ewww..No. The disgusting exposure to so many germs makes me wonder how smart that person is to have gotten a job in the first place.

In my opinion, not only is it not socially acceptable it is not hygenice either. Yuck. I wouldn't want to use that laptop or devise after it had visited the washroom.

no its not socially acceptable. People would think your uncouth in some way esp. in a professional work atmosphere. I would say taking your phone or pda in with you is ok since i have that in my bag at all times but a laptop?..i think not.

I wouldn't leave my computer sitting just anywhere if I were going to the restroom. At the office...I'd leave it on my desk.

To work at the office task at hand without interruptions it might be - but who is that ambitious anyway?
My guess is that that device is taken to release some ( "office"? ) tension. Since so much questionable behavior is acceptable nowadays, it would not surprise me if this one would be.....
