Wow... theres a lot! I will give "nimbyism" since I just wrote that a couple of sentences ago.
It basically refers to the "not in my back yard" kind of people who are all for conservation, for instance, unless it directly encroaches upon them in some way.
Truck Driving ...
"Reefer" ... refrigerated trailer
"Big Road" .... highway
"Flip Flop" ... return trip
"Chicken Coup" ... truck scales
"Bear" ... police
"Back Door" ... behind
"Lot Lizard" ... truck stop prostitute
I used to inspect, test and troubleshoot photo electric tubes, which had a "fill tube" attached. Sometimes that fill tube would be broken off... I called them John Bobbitts. I know that's pretty technical.. but there ya go.=0]
"Embrace the suck": Translation: The situation is bad, but deal with it.
FUBAR - Fuck*d Up Beyond All Recognition.
In the sales field, a "T-O" or "turn over" happens when a salesperson is unable to close a sale, so he brings in coworker to talk to his prospects with hope that they might think of a different angle and close the sale.

You're reading We use a lot of specialized jargon in our jobs, classes or hobbies / interests. What's an example & definition of one bit of jargon you know?
Comments
Wow - I didn't know this one.
How did you come upon it - or begin to use it?
And of course, thank you. I hope we get a nice collection of jargon here. Potential to learn quite a bit.
(PS - nimbyism comes up a lot where I live. Yes re: conservation. Also things like where prisons should or shouldn't be built, where a residential group home for semi-independent adults with mental illnesses should be located (as opposed to state hospital admissions) ... on and on and on and on.)
Sorry - getting carried away. I love this word!!!
