  • No I won't let the godless killing machines near me if I can avoid it.
  • I've never been bitten, though I did come REALLY close to being bitten when I was in the fifth grade. As far as I know, nobody I know has been bitten.
  • Yeah, when I was a kid, a cranky old Daschund (weiner dog) took a big bite out of my right leg. I freaked out and my friend, the dog's owner, freaked out, too. Her mother saw the whole thing and came running outside, freaking out, of course. She called my parents and her husband (my friend's father) and made him come home. It was a big mess. I still have a dent in my leg. Laura Chandler, if you're reading this, no hard feelings:)
  • yeah, but not seriously. my mom used to be terrorized by dogs when she was little walking home from school and one bit her face but luckily it didnt leave a scar
  • Yeah but only play bites I'm studying to be a vet nurse so i guess it comes with the territory!!!
  • Yup, I have. It's not fun at all.
  • Yes my 8 pound lhasapoo bit my hand. My hand swelled up like a balloon. I had to have an IV inserted and everyday for 3 days I went to the hospital for a drip antibiotic. I was put on painkillers as well. Lost a day of work, but got paid fot it. The doctor said that if he had bitten any deeper I would have lost use of my index finger..amazing power in those small teeth, they were/are like razors!
  • Yes. Needless to say it hurt. A lot. It was my neighbors dog, and it was old and delusional (or something...) and it just randomly bit my wrist, I've been snapped at a few times, too, but I don't really count those times.
  • yes and I bit back
  • Only once as a child while out riding my bike. An unknown dog, tail wagging, came running after me. Anxious to give the sweet puppy a pet on the head, he went for my feet, and bit through my red PF Flyers.
  • My mom, I really hate to laugh, but the dog bit her in the arse and she made such a fuss (unusual for her actually). The owners were 100% at fault and some good came out of it. The dog was abused and escaped one day and my mom was the first human the poor thing saw. Animal control came and took the dog away and my mom felt bad because she knew it would probably be put down. The owners got a hefty fine and the dog went to the pound--happy ending though. My mom's arse recovered and the dog was adopted by someone else in the neighborhood who had just lost a dog. He was retired and had time to rehabilitate the once snarling biter. Turned out to be a really good match.
  • I have been bitten several times while playing with my dogs but none were intentional or serious. Several of our patients have. Some severely, others not so bad and all were repairable with simple sutures. May I add that the frequency of bites seems to be equal for cats, but with higher frequency of serious infection from cats bites. The wound is usually just a puncture but loaded with nasty bugs.
  • yes, a friend of mine's father was bitten by a dog...and two weeks later the dog died. lol (true story)
  • Yes, I have several times. The most memorable was the dog that bit my knee through a fence at a puppy mill. The dog actually had to be shot off of my leg to get it free. It was a gross mistreatment of an animal. But grooming and brushing dog's teeth I have gotten bit quite a few times. Go figure! Dogs that don't want baths or brushed teeth!
  • Yeah... I got bit by my dog once. He's little though didn't bleed that long. My dad used to get bitten all the time when he had to give my dog bonnie his insulin shots.
  • I have had one seriuos bite that has left a scar on my little finger and I have couple of other scars from being careless of some dogs dignity, (they reminded me, hence the scars). But I have more scratch scars from the cats and lately I have scratch scars from barbed wire fences because of the horse...
  • when i was young my aunts' dog bit me behind my knee. i still have a mark.
  • yes. couple years ago. my mom's little chawa(?) dog gave me a small bite above my lip. still have scar.(tiny) my sister got bit by a big dog and had to have stitches and the dog was taken.
  • Mostly puppy training related nips...play lessons that weren't a big deal...for me personally. Horses bite MUCH harder! lol The pups just had to learn that people are not chew toys under any circumstance! Once an old stray, that had parked himself by my (then) boyfriend's motorcycle bit me. He was so ragged, tired and just half dead looking I gave him some clean water and kibble to try and eat. He wouldn't allow anyone near the motorcycle at all. He finally let me feed him some of the kibble from my hand and a couple of pieces had rolled off and away. I reached for them to offer again, and THAT is when he bit my hand. Barely breaking the skin, but enough to cause a bit (no pun intended) of "Oh chit, hope he's not rabid or anything...better wash this now!" I did, then added some canned food to the bowl, in case kibble was too much for him to chew...this dog was OLD, pads ripped up, cataracts in his eyes teeth worn down. He ate that with appreciation, and drank the water, but would not leave that bike. We called the pound, since by Monday kids would be loose walking to school in the neighborhood. The officer said they had chase this poor old dog for 6 hours several neighborhoods away the prior weekend when he took up his station at another motorcycle with the same degree of protective dedication. They caught him up eventually, poor old Shepard. I'm sure they had to put him down. The Guy who finally caught him had tears rolling down his face when they loaded that dog into the truck kennel. I gave him a hug and he said, "A good old dog, faithful like this...No dog should end up like this."
  • My dad was bitten by a clients dog, he sells insurance. Apparently he wasn't the first... or the client was also a vet, because they gave him a shot of something afterwards right there in the kitchen. I was very young at the time... glad it wasn't me, WTG for taking one for me dad.
  • Yes so bad i had to go to the hosital
  • A couple of times, but dogs are no where near as bad as cats when it comes to violence
  • Yes, it was a close call right next to my eye.
  • Yes, a monster od a miniature Yorkshire terrier
  • Yes, and yes. My little sister got bitten on the face by the family dog when she was 4, and ended up with 15 stitchs and a scar on her lip. And that same dog, shortly before she died of old age, bit me on the hand. I still have a little scar on my left wrist from that.
  • yea, by a jack russell cross and it wasnt really sore but my friend cryed for ages because she thought it would be put down...
  • I haven't personally, but my little brother has. He was messing with it big time, and it just started gnawing on his hand. It was freaking crazy.. Still got all 10 fingers but he's got a huge scar from it.
  • when i was 7 in morocco outside my grans house a massive alsatian dog nearly bit my hole hand off.The mad thing is that my aunt told me and my 2 brothers not to touch the dog only cause she said it was stinky but the dog didn't bite until one of use touched it neck for some reason it went mad then ran after us because i was the youngest i was the slowest so i jumped and caught my hand while i was being biten my two stupid brothers didn't even get help! i had to struggle to get free then i was scared of getting beats for no listening to my aunty so i hid my hand which was in a terrible state.I had to suffer the next few months in secret and avoid my aunt in fear she might find out.i was a stupid kid i feared adults.
  • my dad owns a shop and my old guard dog had a go at a few trouble maker. he once scared a man who threatened my mum with a knife. my dog, chased him out of the shop.
  • Yes, I was bitten by an alsation that belonged to my friend when we were about ten. We were mucking about and he thought I was attacking her. I was also bitten by another alsation when I was about 12, I dropped my towel next to where its owner had set up camp by the river. I bent down to pick it up without even seeing it and was bitten swiftly on the forehead. I still have the scar to prove it. Good dogs sometimes bite in the belief that they are protecting their owners/owner's property. Dogs should never be left unattended around children.
  • yes, a few times grew up in the country alot of people would dump there dogs and cats thinking they could survive or a farmer can always use another dog or mouser I always brought them in and would try to find a home for them, some were scared and would bite. still have that bad habit of taking in strays .........
  • I've never thought about that - No I haven't
  • Not seriously but yes I have been bitten by a dog. I have a new puppy and she is teething and she is bitting everything.
  • A few times. Never very seriously. Once, while bike riding on a dedicated bike path, I had to leave the path to get around a woman walking her dog off the leash. Gave 'em a wide berth but the (LARGE) dog lept and took a chunk out of my ankle. As I was riding away all I heard from the owner was screamed abuse for "scaring her little puppy". Stupid bloody dog owner...
  • I have been bitten a few times. The first was a cocker spaniel, it always chased the kids in the street and I wasn't fast enough to get away! The second time we went to visit some people who had puppies. I went too close to the pups and the mother, a doberman, jumped at me. I nearly lost my left eye and spent the entire christmas holidays in hospital 100km from home! I was 8. When I was about 14 I was walking down a street with a friend and a German Shepherd came running out of a yard. I had always been told to turn my back on a charging dog, to stay put. My friend ran down the street and the dog bit my leg. I want back a week later to get the money to pay for the doctors visit and the husband came in with the dog and it bit me again on my back!
  • Once by a stray. Very old GSD that was clearly not mentally all there anymore. He had taken up his station by my (then) Boyfriends motorcycle and wouldn't allow anyone near it at all. He was thin, raggady and clearly footsore. We gave him water and some kibble and I was hand feeding him the food, which he was eating, but would not from the bowl. A few pieces had rolled off of my hand and as I reached for them, he bit me. (broken and worn teeth didn't bite too well, lucky for me) We did call the Animal Control because the next day there would be CHILDREN walking past to go to school! The officers said they had spent the PAST Saturday chasing this poor old dog with no success. He had done the same thing...guarding a stranger's motorcycle, in a neighborhood some distance away from ours. WE helped them catch him up, this time. And then one of the men and I stood bawling a bit, because we knew he would have to be put down, his age, health and temper would not allow for any thoughts of adoption for this poor old dog. (He had no tags and it was doubtful that he was micro-chipped) I was glad he would be out of danger once and for all, no longer hungry or frightened or confused...and I was glad that both officers also felt it was an unfair end for a dog that held fast to his belief that he SHOULD guard "his master's" property, even though it was not HIS master he served.
  • When I was about 7 my uncle who is a Trooper, gave his newly retired police dog to my father. I never wanted to go near her (Angel) because she was always growling and nipping at the air. So one day my dad convinced me to go and pet her. I did anything fo rmy dad considering I hadn't seen him until I was 5. So I went over to pet her, and she was being all sweet and nice, then in a blink of an eye, she got spooked and she attcked me. She jumped up on her back legs and knocked me to the ground. The last thing I remember was seeing my dad standing on the porch just watching. He never ran over to get the dog off me, nor did he even scream at her. I think she knocked me out because when I finally woke up, she was over licking herself. I got up and ran inside. She had torn of some skin from my shoulder, and left a couple of nice gashes in my face. I have several scars around my eyes, and on the bridge of my nose and one rather deep one on my cheek. Crazy ass dog, perfect for my crazy ass dad. He had me tell my mom that I slipped on the sidewalk. He was afraid she wouldn't let me go back over there. I still hate those dogs to this day, and try not to get near a dog that's bigger than me. That's why my dog weighs in at a huge 5 pounds. If you ever see a police dog arttack, believe me, it hurts more than it looks like.
  • Yep, I got to comfortable with this dog once and he caught me off guard; bit me right in the mouth.. I had to get stitches in my top and bottom lip.
  • A couple of times, but nothing too serious.
  • When I was 8, I was playing football with my friend and his dad in their front yard. They let their German Shepard out to watch us play. I tackled my friend's dad, and he over reacted and flopped around on the ground like I'd really put a hit on him to make us laugh. The German Shepard saw this as an attack on his owner, sprung off the front porch and tore into my leg. After about four or five head shakes, my friend's dad was finally able to get the dog off of me. Although the pain was intense, I hadn't cried through the whole ordeal, until he was driving me to the hospital and told me he would have the dog shot, stuffed and mounted on the wall. This was the last thing I wanted to happen because I understood, even at 8 years old, that the dog perceived my tackle as an attack and was only trying to protect his family. I took his statement seriously because he was a big hunter. Once he realized why I was crying, he told me he was only joking and trying to make me feel better and that he wouldn't shoot, stuff and mount the dog. I stopped crying, and didn't even flinch when the doctors put eight stitches in my leg.
  • Yes indeed, 1st time was by my man dog when i was 11, i was running round the house screaming with my mate, he thought she was hurting me and lunged, i got in the way and he put a hole in my thigh little 1 ) next one i was 13 ish and my mum took in a jack russel (yuk) and was assured it didn't bite, that night it jumped n my bed and started doing things it shouldn't so i shoved him off. Next thing it was flying at me from the floor, jumped up at my face (just got covers over my head) and staeted tearing away at the duvet, it got my eyebrow shortly before i managed to bundle it up in the duvet and throw it in my wardrobe, so have a nice scar when i get my eyebrows shaped. Lastly was last summer, my friend has a jack russel and a collie, the russel is a VVV nasty little dog who has major problems and should have been destroyed years ago, but anyway, i was at my mates for about 3 minutes (ignoring dogs) and the russel started tearing at the collies ears, throat, neck and head so naturally i went in to help the collie and my hand took full force of a angry jaw and the full depth of the canine tooth, THAT HURT!! still have very sore hand nearly a year on and another scar but hey ho, thats what you get with animals with teeth. My 2 collies have nipped me on occasion but have never hurt any1 or anything to the extent it would be considered a problem or vicious attack, but you can never be complacent :-)
  • yes, when I was very young -- less than 5. And just to be on the safe side, they had me get rabies shots, which at the time was a needle a day in your tummy for like 2 weeks!
  • Yes, I was walking down the streets when a white German Shepperd big be first on my right elbow, and then on my right lower leg. It was no big deal, but I was concerned because I was walking on the sidewalk and the homeowners left the dog with a leash that was too long, long enough to go and bite someone calmly walking on the front of the house. If I was a little kid, i would may have been bitten on my face! There was no one at home, a neighbor noticed and he may have called the police or other authorities....
  • Yes, when I was a kid. And I had to undergo the "Pasteur" treatment to prevent Rabies. Not fun. Wonder if the treatment is the same today?
  • no, but i bit a big freakin' chunk out of one once....damn dog
  • yes, i have back when i was in grade two,so that was about when i was 6 or 7. i was going to school and a dog i have known all my life and has been very friendly with just up and bite me. I had stitches in my head and in my arm. and I also had stitches just above my left eye. One inch lower and i would have been blind in one eye. I still fear dogs to this day and am very careful of who i pet.

  • When I was 14 months old I got mauled by a dachsund. My mom passed out when she saw the blood and my dad had to drive me to the hospital and call some friends to go make sure my mom was ok. I have a scar under my eye that runs across the bridge of my nose. It's barely noticable now.
  • Yes. His name was Osama bin Laden, and he wants my taxi.
  • Yes I was installing cable in a bad neighborhood. I still don't get some people they seem to think that it's done with a magic wand standing by the set! So while i was left to do the install I ventured out to the fenced in back yard to find where the line would come in, I was greeted by a large pit-mutt that seemed friendly. I made my usually let him sniff me and be friendly advances and things seemed fine till I turned my back to work on the house, and Cujo tried to bite my right ass-cheek off! The "lady" of the house then showed back up to berate me for being a stupid white-boy who shoulda known better than to go NEAR her vicious killer attack dog. Pardon me for being from a place where dogs are loving family members and not abused killers!

  • Yes I have, I work with animals, but the worst bite I ever had was from a domestic cat, cats carry more bad bacteria on their teeth than dogs, so a bite is virtually guaranteed to turn septic in hours unless you get medical attention, I'm serious, I nearly lost a finger through a cat bite.

  • No I have not, but I have seen someone that got bitten by a dog.
  • Yes I once saw this cute little puppy German Shepherd sitting next to the side of a really busy street, so being a caring soul, I went over to pick him up. He absolutely FREAKED! He bit my hand and was growling and twisting so much that I actually picked him up with my arm and he was still attached! I had to have a Tetinus shot stitched across my hand! Fricking hound, I wish I had of just walked on by!
  • When I was 8 months old I was attacked by a dachsund and had my face "ripped off" I had to have cosmetic surgery and stitches all over my face. Now you cant even tell except for a little scar under my eye and one on the bridge of my nose.

  • yeah, i deserved it though
  • when I was about 8 years old a dog ran up and bit my calf while I was riding a bike.
  • Yes, I was bitten by the St. Bernard next door when I was 9. A bunch of us were playing baseball, and the ball went over the fence. I got elected to go get it. Seems that Heidi wanted the ball more than I did. I had her top teeth on my elbow and her bottom teeth on my butt. It was not fun at the time.
  • I am usually attacked by a dog about once a month, and bitten about once or twice a year. No big deal. That's just that way dogs are.
  • Yes, by my previous dog. I'm sure some other dogs bit me but I can't remember. If you're calm and have a confident air, you can prevent a lot of bites. I've found that this has worked very well. I work in a kennel and haven't been bitten yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  • No and yes
