  • There are many churches that welcome gay people as members and leaders. EX. MCC, UU, UCC even some Lutheran and Baptist parishes. Should these parishes and denominations be forced to conform to the most intolerant of the radical Christian agenda? Some of our ancestors got the radical idea that it might be a whole lot easier to find food on the ground as opposed to the trees thus humanity was born. I say let the people who wish to come down out of the trees evolve and let the ones who stay remain monkeys.
  • It sounds like you are confusing the state-given, legal status of marriage with the ceremony which optionally accompanies it. As long as everyone has equal access to the legal status of marriage, with the 1000+ rights that accompany it, I don't care one whit about changing the optional ceremony, which is often times religious. No marriage equality legislation that I have ever seen says ANYTHING about such ceremonies - only equalizing the state-given rights. So I guess my answer would be yes, this is a win-win - and it's exactly what has been proposed across the nation in many states. Why some "religious" people continue to support discrimination is beyond me. Isn't that hypocritical?
  • Well, fortunately, there are many churches who are very accepting of the LGBT community. When it is legalized here, that's where I'd want to get married. There's an MCC church not too far from us that several of our LGBT friends belong to. We had a commitment ceremony performed by the minister of that church. But, we'd really rather have a legal marriage, hopefully, before I'm 50 (which is looming closer...).
