Yes. Let's say you have to do it because it's the only way to save someone's life. It would be more just and morally correct to save their life, rather than follow the law, I think. I recall a theory being made about this in relation to moral development, by psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg. According to him, people are more concerned about punishment and/or keeping the society together by respecting authority, in the earlier stages of moral development. He states, however, that a well-run society is not always the best one, and at the later stages a person may follow more universal principles, such as saving someone's life. I have to say I agree.

Yes, absolutely. It is more ethical to steal medicine than watch your child (or anyone) die. It is more ethical to steal food than watch someone starve. There are many ways stealing can be the ethical thing to do, and these are characterized by the outcome of the stealing being less harmful than the outcome of not stealing. Stealing always causes harm to someone in the form of loss of property or profit (being paid...we all like to be paid), but this is a lesser evil than some other evils.

If you are starving, or you need to save a persons life, than stealing would be acceptable.

I guess in the sense of people like the famous person Jean van Jean from the story Les Miserables,when he stole a loaf of bread to feed his starving family,it might be justified.In this case and cases like it,it is a case of survival,without judgments.
