Yes. I read mostly artist's biographies, but also others. One of my all-time favorites is Richard Ellmann's biography of James Joyce. I also enjoyed Ariana Stassinopoulos-Huffington's scandalous biography of Picasso (more for entertainment). The best books on Picasso's biography and accomplishment are the four volumes by John Richardson. Calvin Tomkins wrote a very good biography on Marcel Duchamp. David Hockney and Larry Rivers are two examples of artists who wrote their own, very good autobiographies. Of course, there are countless other examples of fascinating biographies.
