  • because if they didn't , they would not be missionarie4s
  • Yep, I never understood that. I will help you if you become this religion. What ever happened to I will help you because I love you and can afford to help you as you need it.
  • If you have a product you consider good, you try to persuade people to buy it. The consumer has the choice as to whether they want to or not. It is the same with ideas and philosophies. If you believe in something, it is natural to want to share it with others. Those others can accept it or reject it.
  • Missery loves company . . . .
  • with the missionaries i have known, this seems to be the general view: their religion makes them very happy - it brings them great joy and peace. they want to share that with other people. at the same time, they wish to help the less fortunate. so they go to other countries and set up schools and hospitals, and while performing this kind of service, people might understand what the missionary's religion is all about.
  • Because Jesus said in Mark 16:15 Go ye into ALL the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
  • Missionaries go in to the world to share a message that they think will spread happiness to others. They want to share the joy that they find in their own religion. If any of these missionaries don't realize that their will be those that don't want to hear or accept the message they bring, then they will be very quickly disabused of this naive notion when they get out into the field. I have done missionary work myself. I never once thought that everyone one I met would accept the message I had to share. I was happy when I did find someone who was truly interested in learning about my religion happier still if they actually chose to accept it. However, I was not at all surprised that most people I met didn't really want to listen to what I had to say. God has given all of us the right to choose the path that we will follow in life. Any good missionary will accept this truth and realize that it means that people will reject the message that they have to share.
  • The missionaries' job is to spread their religion. Many became believers because of them, but many others don't and never convert.
  • Maybe because of the same reasons you spread and tell people of a certain movie or book you like so much. Or even restaurants or food... If you like something and felt a certain way about it, you share that info... not that hard to figure out really...
  • "WE'RE DOING GOD'S WORK"--that's what they claim. Their "All-mighty" God needs help.
  • Mark 16:15 Tells us to preach the gospel to every creature. To not do so would be to disobey our Lord.
  • They do so because they are selfish. They are just trying to earn a higher place in their religious kingdom. It's all a spiritual pyramid scam type of deal.
  • There are several things in bible which they saying Jesus said. Are they allbelievable. As I understand, there are several versions of bible exists today and many are modified several times. Can this be considered as a marketing instrument for the church?
  • They are doing what God has commanded all believers to do - This is what the bible says about sharing the "Good News" that Christ is the way to salvation: Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  • Jesus, God the Son commanded us to: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (Matthew 29:19-20) The mission of the Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 767-769: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9.shtml#767 With love in Christ.
  • Mark 16:15-16 "And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 “He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned." True Christians and Christian missionaries are commissioned to bring the Gospel to the lost. But it's up to the person hearing the Gospel message to either accept or reject it. There is "no" forcing anything on anyone. There is no trying to "convert" anyone to any religion. It's a matter of sharing the Gospel with anyone willing to listen. If they aren't willing to listen then I move on. Pretty simple. That's not to say that some people don't try to force convert but in doing so, they go against what Jesus taught. You seem to be painting all missionaries with a broad brush which isn't quite fair to those who are truly doing what Jesus want's them to do. The real facts are there for all to discover and it's much better when people have them. Unfortunately most don't bother to gather the real facts because it's easier to parrot what someone else says.
  • I don't think they feel they HAVE to convert everbody. I think they are just trying to live up to the commandment to preach as was mentioned in earlier answers. I think they realize there are people who are not interested in religion. I mean, c'mon, it's not like they're dragging you out of your home. Just excuse yourself politely from the conversation.
  • They read somewhere that god wants them to spread that religion. The reason the bible tells you to convert people is because it keeps people in line, and more people means more revenue for the church.
  • Most folks feel better about their beliefs when they've got a large flock of dittoheads. Thus they can't seem to feel comfortable alone.
  • You answered it already with your 2nd question.. They don't consider how others feel. It's their way or the highway to hell..
  • What missionaries? Who do you know that is like this? Mother Theresa was a missionary and she never once tried to convert anyone. Her mission was to aid the poor and the oppressed, not tell them what to think. She led by silent example, the only way to lead.
  • Not all do. The missionaries of the evangelical denominations do make that a priority. Missionaries of other denominations which are more social justice oriented do not go into an area to help with the intent of changing the culture and expanding the denomination's rolls.
