Which do feel is more important to most politicians, serving the people that elected them, or wealth and power? Why?

I think that people get into politics wanting to serve, but once they taste the power they hang around for that. Not all politicians can get wealthy from being in politics, in Australia, politicians do not have huge salaries (although they are good, they can raise them anytime they want, and the perks are great), so they need to be independantly wealthy prior to starting in that area.

There is no doubt it is wealth nd power. Anything to avoid a real job.
