Not if they didn't share the same agenda. Is the alternative to be ruled by the illiterate? I think we are stuck with the current system, being ruled by the most popular, tenacious campaigner who makes the most convincing promises, evades realistic approaches and has the most confident demeanor and pepsodent smile.

They would also have to have the best interests of the People at heart. It'd be VERY easy to turn such an organization into a self-serving autocracy.

We have highly intelliegent people running them now. They are intelligent enough to be corrupt without getting caught.....mostly. +5

Intelligence is an opinion. Democrats and Republicans both have different opinions of what intelligence is. Democrats advocake change and improvement. Republicans prevent change and advocate any war. Especially wars that involve killing non christians.

Highly intelligent does not eqate to common sense or street smarts or politcal craft.

Very efficiently into the ground yes. A camel is a horse made by a committee. Just because someone is intelligent doesn't make them wise. Nations need good leaders. Too many cooks spoil the broth- so to speak.
