  • I guess it is because they believe that GOD created the universe and everything in it :)
  • its the same with any extremist who has a religion. If you question it, they try to silence you by any means necessary. Christians just happen to be more abundant, but there are people who act just the same in all religions.
  • Why are Atheists so hellbent on crushing their hopes? It goes both ways.
  • Because if they feel they will only be successful when everyone's Christian (I believe Jesus said something about that being when he comes back or when the world would be perfect or something). So it's not that they're defening God and Jesus all the time, it's that they are trying to disallow people from putting harmful information out about their god so that it will be easier to convert everyone in later years with less negative information out there about them.
  • Well, not all Christians are preachers or spend time defending God. But I do know what you mean. I am a Christian and I get tired of it!! If I remember my sunday school lessons, there are passages in the bible that say we are to spread the word about God/Jesus. Like I said, I believe for myself and think you can do whatever you want. I'll talk if you ask :)
  • What about Muslims who kill people who speak out against their faith?
  • Because they actually know what it means to believe in something. People who believe in nothing just wouldn't understand.
  • great choice of wording (hellbent) ALL religions have a fanatical percentage of followers i would argue that all you hear in the press and TV is a tiny fraction of 1% of all the Christians / Muslims / Jews etc......whoever they want to point the camera at......
  • They've probably never considered or don't believe that the truth NEEDS no defense. But if you have a love for or a vested interest in something, it's human nature to want to defend it. It doesn't often change anyone's perspectives, but I can see where people might feel obligated to try anyway.
  • If someone said something incorrect, false, or slanderous about your parents how would you react?
  • Because God is the created us and Jesus saved us. please no dr
  • Hey Chad...I just asked and found out our churches here pay taxes!!! I learned something new :)
  • They associate with it and essentially if someone attacks God or Jesus they feel they need to defend their beliefs. It's how everyone is, really.
  • ?? Because they are CHRISTIANS! what else would they do if they hear an attack on God or Jesus?
  • Bigdaddy you said, "I consider myself to be a Christian, and I don't recall EVER having said "something like "Im not perfect, just forgiven" OR the hostile response, which would be "If you dont believe in god you're going to burn in hell."" As I said... You believe what you want, and I'll believe what I want." XOXM said, "when they start PREACHING to defend themselves, THEN they either go elitist or hostile." Bigdaddy, did you just do that, or is it just me, you acted as though you are better than the accusation when you defended yourself, I trhink XOXM makes a pretty strong point about what Christians do when in defense mode.
  • Some Christians believe that faith is a personal matter that should be kept to oneself. It is true that we shouldn't be boisterous or obnoxious in sharing our faith, but we should always be ready to give an answer, gently and respectfully, when asked about our faith, our life-style, or our Christian perspective. I don't view this as being a matter of defending God and Jesus because they need no defense, but more a matter of expressing my own hope and belief in them and what they have done in my life because I can speak only for me. 1 Peter 3:14-17 "But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil."
  • Because they're Christians? EDIT: To whoever DR me, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant Christians will defend God and Jesus. I wasn't trying to offend anyone.
  • Chad for one you seem to be putting all Christians into the same category. Not all Christians follow the same style of life. I do not classify myself as a Christian, I believe there is a God, but I consider myself Spiritual. That is my choice. I could ask you the same sort of question; I could say well why you are so hell-bent in calling God or Jesus down? Think about that for a minute. You know that will cause a conflict no matter how much you want to try to make your stance. You are looking for trouble from even posting that type of question, you knew this before you even posted it.
  • Why are Jews so hellbent on defending the historicity of the Holocaust? The answer's the same to both questions: because they're constantly under assault by a rabble of bigotted know-nothing cranks informed only by insidious liars or other cranks.
  • Good question. Yahweh created this universe through His Son Jesus, so they are quite capable of defending themselves. I simply spread the good news of the Kingdom Of God.
  • All religions see it as a great honor to stand up for thier beliefs. Christians feel the same. To defend God's name is desireable, not that He needs the testimony of any man for defence. God holds His Name in high esteem and is ready to defend it Himself if needed.
  • Because they believe they are defending truth. It is not unreasonable to defend truth. Some of the methods use leave a little to be desired, but I can't find fault with the intent.
