  • One, usually, unless you are looking for widely varying types of jobs. That doesn't mean that you can't "tweak" one tiny part of each to fit the particular job you are applying for. If you still have an "Objective" part of your resume - not as common these days except for recent graduates - make sure that this lines up pretty well with the job you are applying for. Change the line(s) in the cover letter that explain why you are applying for this job in particular and to this company.
  • One to each company, and then a follow up just to make sure they got the first ones. If you get an interview, make sure you do a follow up letter directed to the person that interviewed you, not human resources(I hate that term)
  • One cover letter tailored to that specific employer + a copy of your resume, be sure to follow up any interviews with a thank you letter - ASK for a business card at the end of the interview, it has everything you need for that person who interviewed you. Best wishes!
  • One resume, and I would personalize the cover letters.
  • Each resume and cover letter should be tailored for the position being applied for. Rocket -- do you have a copy of Richard Bolles's book "What Color Is Your Parachute"? You should have one. It really helped me when I was doing my job search. Let me know if you can't afford it.
  • Couple of different resumes and I personalise each cover letter by how I feel, don't ask me why I tend to feel writing it from scratch is my way of doing it.
