I would say that institutional racism effects the majority of the population. A minority of people will be conciously and hatefully racist.
-
I believe that in young people it is a 50/50, but in the none racist 50% there surely is a good 25% of in the closet racists.
-
Maybe 60, or 70 percent majority.
-
Minority!

Sadly I would go with the majority. I think most people (with all races) are guilty of having some racist thoughts but most don't share them outloud. In other words, they aren't obvious about it. However, there is a smaller percentage less than 50 percent who are blatlantly obvious about. You have to sort of watch out for people who make controversial statments with the beginning of the sentence "I am not prejudiced but...."

Racism against a group of people? The minority and usually the vocal minority. Racist themselves? 50/50 (predjudice and plain ignorance is another story). Racism period (in the media, from people)? like 70% I feel like the youth is less racist than the older generation because they have more opportunities to have friends of different races and have them without being starred at or recieve weird looks...but (from what I've noticed) the kids who are young and racist tend to be real "hardcore".

Racism is a point of view, not an ideology. Many people probably make "racist" assumptions, but ultimately aren't and don't mean to be racist.

Hard to say as I'm not around the youth of today to know; I'm surprised many here tend to think they know and I would ask...how? If there are so many racist then they must clearly be of the closet type because I'm not seeing nor hearing of any where I'm at.
