You cannot discrimate aganst the major race in a society , or that seems to be the way of things. Only minorities can claim discrimination.

I guess if he is white he can’t join “black” caucus.

Not much to think. It's called the Black Caucus for a reason. They represent African Americans, but I can see why Cohen would want to be in it. He does represent 60% of African-Americans in his district. They should have let him in, most probably, but it's not for us to decide.

I think its disgusting. I am opposed to any racial specifications for anything. I also think the black college fund and the black beauty pageants are disgusting as well. What do you think would happen if there were special white groups where no other race was allowed? There'd be crud all over the media. In america, we are americans. Our ancestries are from all over the world. The color of ones skin doesnt determine what he or she can or cannot do. Everyone has the opportunity to attend school and learn, everyone has the opportunity to make their own way in the world. There are prejudice people all over the place from people prejudiced against other races to people prejudiced against ages and weights and sex. I think the biggest determination of whether someone has a harder time in life or not is whether or not they are willing to apply themselves in this life and if they will wallow in excuses for not doing things on their own, or if they will overcome lifes adversities that we ALL experience. Thanks for asking .. this issue burns me up. For the record, I happen to be of German descent, my best friend happens to be of African descent, we both think alike on this issue and we both declare ourselves as Americans and very proud of it when asked. This is where we were born, this is where our citizenship is, and where ever our ancestors were born and raised is a non issue in our lives except for making an interesting family tree study or something.

Cohen saught to join because he represents a largely black district. Should that district not be represented by the CBC just because they elected a white man? This is NOT the way toward the "Promised Land" the Martin Luther King spoke of. He looked to a day when "a man is not judged by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character." What was the CBC judging Cohen by? If you take all the hate of the world, and copy it so that it may be thrown back at its source, all you've accomplished is more hate. We should be looking for a cure of racism, not trying to perpetuate it, regardless of which "side" of the fence you are on.
