doesn't your country have the equivalent of a Register of Deeds office? in the U.S. all land records are public and they're put on the public record to facilitate title searches (so future buyers know the sellers really do own it). I can't imagine something like that doesn't exist in other countries. in the U.S. you can lose your property deed/title, and still it's no big deal.
