I dont understand why some people after making one mistake, they make the same one?dont they learn from it?

You'll find human history is a story of repeating the same mistakes. It is really rather sad. We do not seem to learn from the past. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

They say the first time you make a mistake it's not really a mistake but a learning experience. If you do the same thing a second time it's a mistake b/c obviously you didn't learn from it the first time.

I think our environment shapes our behavior and we repeat behavior we are familiar with, even if it is not beneficial to us. However, it's possible to recognize self-destructive behavior and relearn appropriate behavior. For instance, I grew up in a home environment where there was a lot of arguing and fighting. That was familiar to me, so when I chose my first boyfriend, lo and behold, he was also from this type of background, argumentative, and controlling... I was comfortable, yet miserable with that relationship. We eventually split and then I learned to appreciate those people who could talk thru a problem, show kindness and affection, without yelling or hitting. It took a long time to learn this, but I know it's possible because it happened to me.

sometimes on the advise of friends they give it another shot, with an expectation not to fail again,promising you their assistance only to back out on you. once is a mistake,twice is coincidence and thrice is a habit.here is where you draw the line.

You would imagine that 'normal' people would! It is a bit like returning time and time again and looking in the refrigerator in the hope that something new to eat will have materialised in there.

I know the reason I make the same mistakes, is either I don't remember the situation that happened last time and I fall into the same trap, or I feel like I can do it better this time and end up doing the same thing.

I don't think anyone knows for sure, other than th fact that they haven't learned from their mistake. I'm pleased that you didn't say "make the same mistake twice", because that would imply the mistake was made three times.

it's hard to change yourself once you've made a mistake. we are creatures of habit and it's really hard to break cycles we are so used to doing. sometimes it's all a matter of comfort and predictability.
