I'm guessing the software became corrupted. Either reload the software or update it.

Does your laptop play cd's? If so you may have just a driver problem or a conflict between drivers. Your first step should be to go to your control panel and open up the "add remove hardware" menu. Scroll down to your DVD drive and uninstall it. Once complete click on add hardware and have windows automaticaly detect your dvd drive. If windows doesn't have the driver it will ask you if you have the driver disk. If you have it great, if not then surf over to the company's website or CNET and download it. Once this has been accomplished install the drive and REBOOT your computer otherwise the drive won't show up. Pop in a DVD and it should work. If it does you only have one more step to go. Eject the DVD and insert another one. If that works as well your golden. If it still does not work get some isopropyl alcohol (at you local drugstore and a lint free cloth or a q-tip will work if nothing else is available.) Eject your disk and look at the lens on the DVD tray. If you smoke around your computer or live with pets and or carpet the dust in the air can produce a film over the lens that makes it difficult for the laser to read through. Clean the lens and try again. If you still cant resolve the problem try taking the drive out of the laptop and reseating it (put it back in). Thats all I can think of at the moment. I hope this helps.
