For me, tighty whities constrict the testicles too much.

Really? I've been living in la-la-land. I wasn't aware that society even had an interest in my undergarments, much less the ability to force me to conform in my choice of same. Have I been living a quasi-criminal life these past 46 years since sixth grade? For the record, I don't think society has any say over what you wear beneath your outer clothing. Wear whatever the hell you want to or go commando if that floats your boat. I assure you there are no panty-police patrols.

Considering that you can find just as many briefs for sale as boxers in adult sizes, i doubt anyone is being forced. I personally got annoyed with briefs because it felt too restricted.

it's because they're stronger than bries so that the bullies in school can continue to administer wedgies to the smaller kids with the added bonus of being able to hang them on coat pegs

Kids are just mean. And for some reason this stigmatism continues on into adulthood. It's just a wave though I believe. I think my children will be told that boxers are nerdy. I wear briefs though now that I'm out of high school. They are a thousand times more comfortable...

Society doesn't care what guys wear. In fact, until about 15 years ago all that was available for young men was briefs. Briefs are still available in all sizes from 2T to 42+. You just have to purchase them. The only reason boxer sales are currently up is because so many young men choose to wear the waist of their pants below their butt, leaving a large expanse on underwear showing. Most choose to cover that area with printed boxers rather than tightie whities.

You can wear what you like. Ignore what others do and say.
