Why are black cats considered bad luck in the U.S.A., but in Britain they consider white cats bad luck?

i am in the uk and never heard that abou t white cats,my grandmother told me to see a black cat is goodluck unless it crosses your path then its bad luck

I live in the UK and i have never heard that white cats are unlucky:)

US just took the opposite of UK in this case. That's it.
