  • Oh, I did once! I dreamt that I was walking through the entrance of a cave and I was met by the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen in my life. Long, curly black hair, glistening muscles, piercing blue eyes, melt in your mouth kinda guy. (I so would have done him. Too bad it wasn’t one of those types of dreams! ) I knew the moment I lay eyes on him that he was the devil. He welcomed me with open arms and a grope then lead me into hell. It was nice. I could see the heat rising off the ground, but it felt like a nice spring day. In the distance was a red-ish swirl of clouds that, after a while, I realized were actually disembodied spirits. There was a lot of molten rock forming rivers and he lead me over one of them. There were people in a straight line across it, apparently chained in place. All you could see were their bald heads and when we crossed it was by stepping on them, which caused them to sink below the surface and come up screaming. I was lead to a couple of pillars, handed a whip, and told to beat the man that was chained between them. Then, Satan kissed me on the top of the head and said he would be back later and I woke up. I’ve had several other ‘devil’ dreams, but being an atheist they have no religious significance to me.
  • Collectively, they’ve taught me that the best way to have strange, interesting dreams (which is something I LOVE to have, by the way!) that I’m sure to recall when I wake is to eat spicy food or chocolate before bed. Independently, they can have great significance, thought not in a religious manner of speaking. They provide me with a peek into the inner workings of my mind, allow me to see just what happened during the day to catch my subconscious mind’s attention, and also help me figure out what’s really bothering me. I don’t believe the scene I described is a real place, as again, I don’t believe in religion, and I can’t honestly say I recall ever reading about/seeing anything remotely similar to it, but if I recall correctly, that dream came just after a big blowup with my father and while I never saw the face of the man between the pillars, I knew at the time it was him. I don’t believe that was a coincidence, and I suppose that only highlights the very real issues and anger I hold for the man who used to beat me all the time.
  • You know, it's a funny thing about religious dreams, miracles, visions & all that hogwash, they don't happen to Atheists. Now, why do you suppose that is?
