How much time does an employer have to give an employee between 8 hour shifts? Do they have to give you 8 hours from the end of one shift to the beginning on the next shift?

No they dont have give u 8 hr break if i understand your question right, in mass you need at least 4 hr brk between shifts so for example one day you could 20 hrs and next day do you need 8 hr brk which would give 16hrs then back to 20hr etc

There is most likely no law that regulates this. In many states you need to be paid OT if you do not have a minimum time (usually 8 hours) between shifts. However, this does not prevent an employer from scheduling less than 8 hours apart. Also, there are federal laws (and some state laws) regulating this for specialized fields. For example, most common carriers (e.g. truck driving and pilots) have a max period that they can work without a minimum break. But thee laws are the exception, not the rule.
