I can't decide... but I have certainly given this a lot of thought. I think all animals should be treated with the utmost respect.

To answer this you have to define superior. And for the answer to make sense, you have to find some non-human-centred way of defining it. Most definitions of superior work out as "like the best kind of humans". In which case, of course, humans are superior. We then look at how the best kind of humans, look at how they differ from ordinary humans, and say that people who have even more of these properties are saints, angels, gods...

Yes, I don't believe in a god but in the bible it says we were created in the eye of the beholder and in his image, so I like to think we are like gods to the animals and we should act more like it and be more environmentally conscientious.
-
no, i think human just believe he's superior...
-
No. I just think we think we are. Sometimes that's enough. I think we're just beginning to scratch the surface on animals, their intelligence and cognitive abilities and their social structures. Humans haven't even made the most impact, globally speaking. Bacteria, which is the basic form of animal life, is found everywhere, in all types of environments, even ones that could not support any other living thing. Bacteria is also within all other living things. It has shaped our world and continues to do so. Without bacteria, we would not only not be here, we couldn't survive. Bacteria was here long before anything else living was, and will be here long after, too.

Following Darwin's theory of evolution "survival of the fittest" I surely think that human race has proved to be the most superior race. It has now control over almost everything and also has the power to destroy everything if he so wishes. Mind is superior to body and man has proved himself to be the most intelligent of all beings. So why should not he consider himself the superior living being?

No. If you look at all of nature, it follows a balancing dance of existance, and when left alone, it continues along just fine without the need of any intervention. One Elder put it as, "Nature always follows the instructions it was made by." Now man choses to try and dominate anything that challenges a self-perception of supremecy. What he does not understand he fears and tries to reframe it into something insignificant or bad, and to deal with those fears he cannot change - he kills. The Elder also said, "But Man is the only one in Nature that feels he can go and do whatever he wants, forgetting his instructions." The consequence: a KITA from the Creator. A Kick In The Ass to remind us that we are not in charge! Everytime Man tries to establish superiority in Nature (usually by killing, altering or destroying) something bad happens. When these things happen - toxic waste spill, destroyed ecosystem causing starvation, loss of vital resources - very few pay attention to the lesson. When a person hss a personal tragedy - they don't care about their clothes, their house, or their car. They focus on their relationship with their Higher Power and their connection with loved ones and the World... That is part of the Original Instructions - learn how we are connected to all living things and use that knowledge wisely. Another anecdote: Dogs try to teach us something everyday, that we are usually very bad at.... unconditional love. They love you no matter what. Hmmm, what if we could do that with others?

When you see how quickly an animal can fend for itself from birth and how long it take a man to even be able to feed himself... I'd say Animals are superior with their survivor abilities!
-
Nothing. We are not superior, though we may be more capable - and more destructive.
-
thumbs?
-
We are extremely violent, religous and we have weapons.
-
Who says we are?
-
no because we depend on other animals for our survival but they dont depend on us
-
We are certainly a marvel of nature. But the only way I'd consider us better is if we didn't cause such wars and kill our own environment!
-
no..just different

Way to go cerebral cortex! ;-)

There are some things in the Bible on this topic... but people forget to read between the lines.... According to the Bible, Adam named all of the creatures of the animal world. And while he was "given domain" over them, he was not authorized to hurt them. He was created to tend the Garden of Eden. (Gardener) Him as well as all of the animals : WERE VEGITARIANS!! Personally i eat meat, however i have respect for those that choose not too. I have always felt by eating of the "Tree of Knowledge", humans brought death into an otherwise perfect world.(Genesis 3:3&21) King James GEN:1 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. GEN:2 8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; Genesis 3: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them
