  • Well, given that you're a new, young driver and what your ticket is for, your insurance is probably going to skyrocket. You may or may not be able to get the charges reduced - I would say try to emphasize your normally clean driving record, but at 16, you don't have much to go on. The best thing you can do at this point is probably just to pay the fine, and chalk it up to a lesson in speed limits. Don't do this again, okay?
  • are you actually facing charges, or do you just have a speeding ticket to pay? typically the best way is to just pay it. unless you feel like going to court to try to dispute it (which won't get you anywhere) or to sit and cross your fingers that the cop won't show up and it will be thrown out.
  • You will recieve demerits, and this will be on your drivers abstract, so don't be excited when you find out that you will have a tough time getting insurace, meaning you will have to pay through the roof, for with this kind of stuff, you will need max coverage, this is not to scare you this is what is going to happen. The only way to get your insurace down is to have your parents have you as a secondary driver on their insurance.
  • sorry to tell you, but the law (cops and judges) are particularly hard on young drivers. They want to both teach you a lesson, and make an example of you. You're going to be charged with whatever you're charged with.
  • I'm not meaning to be nasty here. But why would anybody want to give you advice that might keep you on the same roads as they drive on? You don't have respect for the rules of the road and that makes you a danger to others. Perhaps a suspension or large fine, in addition to what WILL happen to your insurance, will be a better lesson than the driving lessons you have had so far.
  • Consult a lawyer. Many will give you a free initial consultation and let you know just what they believe they can do for you. It will cost you several hundred dollars, but they may be able to keep this off of your record. I had a similar problem when I was eighteen. Lawyer cost me $500, but I only ended up paying a fine, nothing on my record.
  • lol... ok i'm done laughing, i hope you enjoyed your nascar high while it lasted. my boyfriend does this all the time.. and he's got quite a record already. anyway.. when the judge asks you if you plead guilty say yes. They'll never believe you if you say not guilty especially at your age and plenty of kids go through the court system with the same excuses you'll think of.. it will just make him think, "this kid's punk, i'm a judge and he's lying to my face therefore i'm going to give him a tougher sentence." from my boyfriend's experience, he'll plead guilty (and he's been charged with much worse offenses than you.. more than a dozen times in a period of 4 months, literally.. not even joking. he never hired a lawyer to represent him in court too and i think it worked at his advantage) and the judge will make him pay a 500 dollar fine every time, his insurance went up but he said after a certain period of time it will go back down, he spent some time in jail (no cell phone, no communication, just books and other reckless people to talk to just like you...cool! you guys can share "awesome" stories of how you sped 100mph on the highway... ), and there was a case where the officer that pulled him didn't show up to court so the case was dismissed... have fun in court.. and oh! dress well.. no silk shirts.. it's tacky. too bad you're not a full time student in college with a job.. my boyfriend would repeat this to every judge that saw him in court and instead of getting jail time he just got fines.. he's been on probation twice.. broke the rules of his probation more than hundreds of times but was only caught once breaking it.. my other friend got community service, a couple hundred dollar fine.. and got sued by the person she hit for hospital bills (which was 5 grand including payment for emotional blahblah.. turns out the person that sued was lying.. i guess you'll meet more reckless people than you.. so you better wise up because you can easily be taken advantage of in situations like these especially since your younger and generally perceived as more immature), etc.
  • You're too young for anything serious to happen. You'll probably get lectured by the judge, and maybe have to pay a fine. The worst will be community service, and maybe a small license suspension. Just remember not to lock your knees.
  • Get a legal advice from a lawer.
  • Your obvisouly not from Florida where they lock you up at 30mph over the limit until your court date. My last ticket 65 in a 45 cost me $35 from a ticket clinic lawyer, no court appearance and no points.
