Why do people put ketchup on a hamburger? all you taste is the ketchup.

Force of happen and I like the taste of ketchup. I have been putting ketchup on hamburgers since a kid. I also like the way ketchup taste on my hamburger so I do what I like. To each his own. For example, I don't like relishes on my hot dogs but I know people who do.

Only if you drown the burger with it. It's put on there for the same reason any condiment is added, for extra taste.

I only put enough on to compliment the flavor of the burger, not drown the poor thing.

I don't know. I never do, but then again, I don't use ketchup at all as a condiment and only as an ingredient because it is so strong and sweet.

I put a bit on. Not so much that it would ruin the taste of the meat and the other stuff.

Many times when you get a burger it's dry. So I think people need some type of sauce on it. It's also tradition, everyone else does it. Teresa Heinz Kerry would want to you use ketchup, lol. However, I personally add a little ketchup, but love onions, mushrooms, cheese and a nice juicy hamburger. I don't have them a lot but when I do I want it to taste good.

I like to put a tiny bit on a veggie burger. I don't think it masks the taste at all.

MMMMM, I love ketchup on hamburgers, I don't think I could eat one without it! What i don't get is when people put ketchup on Steak. What a way to ruin a nice juicy piece of meat!

I usually mix my burger meat with some A1 sauce before cooking and add just a little ketchup for a hint of flavor. I think it depends on how thick you put your condiments on your burger rather or not you able to taste the meat. The A1 I found enhances the beef flavor.

Well, only if you drown it in ketchup. Some people like the taste. I like either ketchup or some mayo...but also lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato and maybe some cheese! All the flavors blended together are yummy!

HEY! That's exactly what Peter Lugar said over 100 years ago. The founder of one of the greatest steakhouses in American ordered that if anyone were to ask for ketchup to put on the steak, that they should be tssed out forthwith.....
