Daylight savings time is an example of just how easy it is for coordination to manipulate time. Could we make a day last forever if we decided to set the clock back an hour every day at 1pm (or any time)?

You could make the time on the clock appear to last forever but real time does not conform to that. The Earth spins at the same rate no matter how often or when you set the time on your clock back, eventually it will get dark on you, your clock will just say its 10AM or somesuch at the time.

The only thing we are manipulating is how we measure time. We do not change time itself. We could call every hour 1 pm if we wanted to, but that would not make the day last any longer, unfortunately.
