  • Most probably because we haven't yet experienced it! Even if you accept the idea that it is possible according to the laws of physics for us to remember things that haven't yet occurred (for that is all the future is - a collection of everything that has yet to occur), if we had memories of the future we would be able do act upon them, changing the future and voiding the very memories that caused us to act!
  • The word "remember" means to recall to mind something to which one was previously exposed. "Previously" means it happened in the past. If you could call to mind something that happens in the future, it would not be a memory, but a premonition. We use different words for the different concepts. If the question is meant to ask why we can not call to mind future events, that is an interesting question. We do not have a simple explanation of why time works the way it does or how to manipulate it in such a way to perceive future events. I believe there exists a perspective outside of time/space from which you can see all the future and past, but if you were outside of time, "future" and "past" wouldn't mean much. The book "Flatland" has an interesting perspective on living outside your dimensional limits.
  • Why can't we predict the past? The past is only a memory, the future is just an expectation, there is only the now.
  • Interesting question. I say it is because we have incarnated in LINEAR LAND. Where time is a line; a begining, a middle and an end. We were not born with the senses to allow us to perceive time in this sort of spheroid shape your question suggests.
  • i feel that our future is our past and we can remember our future!!! very odd how this question is... very odd that i feel this way about this question... it makes more sence if we don't think about it!!! i wish i had the words to inlighten everyone!
  • We do remember the future. As French philosopher Gabriel Marcel said, " Hope is a memory of the future".
  • The Now, is a resultof the past, and the future is shaped by the now, or the present. Too many evil people can predict the future.Too many evil people in power can probably destroy the future.
  • Because of our position and path within the four dimensions that we can perceive. However, in theory, it is possible to remeber the future. It is an observed fact that gravity slows down time (http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Cyberia/NumRel/GenRelativity.html). Without the understanding of gravitys effect on time, gps satelites would be inaccurate by a few miles. If you were able to create a worm hole, with its exit in deep space, and its entrance by large mass giving of large amounts of gravitational energy, then it would be possible to see yourself exit the worm hole in deep space before you entered it, or see yourself enter the entrance of the worm hole after you had exited it, therefore, the fact that you had exited the worm hole before you entered it, would mean that you had a memory of something before it happened, thus remembering the future. This is all according to Einstein's theory of general relativity.
  • In this world of controversials it is somewhat a tedious task to certainly determine the future as the present itself can not, verily, determine it. We are limited from what we have been so far rather than what we might be otherwise! Telling what you are not sure of is like hunting what you actually can not kill or more offering something you do not have. In the future we can, beyond reasobale doubts, find the past and not otherwise! Regards; Kassanga
  • "now" doesn't exist either... if you think about it. by the time "now" happens it's gone.
  • This is a backdoor question. You cannot remember something, you have not experienced.
  • Time eludes even the wisest I would say. If you take the old argument that only the present truly exist because the past is nothing but memories and the future is just the present that hasn't happened yet then the present can't really exist either. Because no matter how small you divide time, there would still have to be a halfway point where it divides into the past and the future but by the time the future becomes the present isn't it already the past? At least in time that humans can comprehend it is. So either time doesn't exist or we can't comprehend it presently. I would say its because time is simply a human means of explaining and giving meaning to reality and if a future reality does exist, then our minds can't sense it anyways so therefore we have no idea of it.
  • hahaha thats a strange question.
  • to remember the future is 'the now' answer question is also 'the now'
  • I can "The Future" was a Leonard Cohen album!
  • I hasn't happened yet.
  • we could remember the future for example you had a dream that you were going to win the lottery 3 days pass you win the lottery so you clearly remember the dream you had so you remember the future lol and why cant we predict the past? I say we can because we learn from our mistakes so are past is predictable
  • cos u forgot the past loooooooooool
  • Maybe because it hasn't happened yet. Or...it's not in our knowledge........................
  • It was a great party, when nobody can recall it then it must have been great!!!
  • Our temporal lobe won't allow it, as with crossing dimensions or noticing parallel worlds (universes/realities) in which we coexists in
