Should rape victims have to pay for their own rape kits? Is this gathering evidence or a medical exam in your opinion?

i would think it would be gathering evidence, and i don't think they should have to pay for it, i think they should catch the jerk who did it and make them pay

I find even the idea of that to be disturbing. Of course not. I'd pay for it myself out of pocket before I let them pay for it.

Ugh, can you imagine? "Doctor, I've just been raped," "Where's your insurance card? This is going to cost you..." The thought of making rape victims PAY for their rape kit is sickening...it's absolutely gathering evidence and should be paid for by someone BESIDES the victim. It would be like billing the estate of a murder victim for the crime scene investigation; doesn't make too much sense!

Yikes NO!!! So someone gets raped and they have to pay for something that was not of their doing? If your car gets rear ended, do you have to pay for the damage?
