I don't think it's "PC" to respect the traditions and holidays of others. I'm a Buddhist, so from a religious standpoint, Christmas and all the others have no special meaning -- although we celebrate Christmas in my family just like many other secular folks. This kind of question really comes down to a kind of "group superiority" thinking, which goes something like "we were here first, or there are more of us, or we're the best, so therefore the traditions of others among our population are less worthy of note". While this may seem benign in little things like this issue, it often takes only a little bit of stress between groups to get that mindset amplified into some very ugly attitudes and actions.

Jewish people in the Christian world have adapted to the culture around them. We have effectively jumped onto the Christmas bandwagon. For some families Chanukah has been commercialised, even though the holiday is spiritual. I do not believe it is a "who made the holidays equal", it is just a gradual thing that happens.
