Why do some people paint all Muslims with one stroke of the brush? Can't they understand that there are extremists/breakaways from most if not all religions? Do all Christians bomb abortion clinics? They claim to do THAT in the name of God.

Why? Because Muslims are very bad at public relations. When a terrorist event happens there are NO Muslim organizations and/or groups that distance themselves from it. If you remember after 9/11 they showed Muslim countries everywhere dancing in the streets.

i think part of it is because some religions are associated with a specific culture mexicans - catholics irish - catholics white americans - protestants arabs - muslims . it's unfortunate, but with all the political turmoil in the middle east, the media says "arabs=terrorist" and we swallow the pill. the media goes further and says "arabs=muslims" and we swallow that pill. then the meds get even more mixed and suddenly people are spitting out "muslims are terrorists" . it's easy to take a broken down simple thought of an outgroup, while and in group always has more dimensions that's just the screwed up way our minds work and it sucks (and i might add that in the states at least a third of the muslim population is made up of converts. i happen to be one of them)

When an abortion clinic is bombed, Christian religious leaders denounce it. When a Sbarro's is bombed by Muslims in Israel, I don't hear Muslim clerics denouncing it. Silence is admission in the eyes and ears of some.
