  • It's just a condescending remark used to fill the silence that occurs after they are asked a question they can't answer. They probably hope to upset the person they direct the remark to at the thought that they would somehow know what they believe deep down, and hopefully change the topic.
  • I guess they believe that Atheists have been somehow "corrupted", and that they can be "cured" of this affliction through the word of Christ, or the Holy Quran. Muslims in particular, believe that everybody is born a Muslim, and that other faiths (or lack of faith) are forced onto them. They never stop to think that maybe faith and critical thinking aren't inextricably linked.

  • Just one of many ways to try and justify their own shaky belief system.
  • They think their way is the only way and the rest of the world is in some sort of denial or "rebellious stage".
  • That's funny. I never thought about it but facing the question now I'd have to say that it's easier to believe in a work of fiction if you deny that there are those who see through it. . +5
