  • The Liberal party has a long history of imposing taxes, but at the same time they have a history of cutting the defecit and spending the money that we're taxed on, on important issues (not ALL of it, but a good chunk of it). Anybody who elects Liberals to a majority should not be surprised if/when a new tax is added. That said, i'm not *against* the Liberals, at least I know where they stand. We have not seen a Conservative majority in a while, it will be interesting to see what they do if they get it this time around.
  • Every party in Canada will tax you. The question is HOW and WHY. The Conservatives have a low history or under-taxing Canadians and running deficits. The exact thing that has caused the US to be in it's current crisis, running a deficit and overspending while lowering taxes. It doesn't make fiscal sense to do that. The Liberals haven't spoken of increasing taxes, in fact, they have discussed a shift in how taxation is being done to shift taxes to incentivize the new green economy. It's simply playing the game of the boogeyman to make it seem like it's simply an increase in taxes when that isn't what their policy says. If the Conservatives don't understand it, well they shouldn't be talking about it. Like I'm going to believe a man that has been shown to be lying to Canadians three times today. Once in court in his case against the Liberals where his claim that the tape was doctored was disproved today by his own experts. Secondly when claiming the costs of the Canadian participation in the Afghan mission were much lower than they really are. And thirdly in telling us that are banks are safe and at the same time offering to buy $25 Billion in mortgages from them.
