  • Probably that increasing air pollution will combat the effects of Global Warming.
  • That adults rarely act like "grownups". This was a really big shock to me in my late teens. I had always been taught to have unquestioning faith and trust in adults from my parents. But, in high school, I started hanging out with some of the teachers (I was in a jazz band with some of them) and what I had always looked at as beneficial and above reproach actions became, upon closer inspection, the same kind of pettiness and selfishness that I saw in my peers. I began to wonder, just how were kids supposed to act when adults told them to "act their age" or "grow up"? Honestly, it was like a mini-breakdown for me, and it caused me to rethink a LOT of what I had been told. I am much better for having gone through this catharsis, but it was a really strange time in my life.
