  • My opinion is that you are wrong. If you toss a coin in the air, you think there's a reason it comes up heads as opposed to tails or vice versa. I think some things are random, and that some things have a reason, but mostly, I believe most things happen without purpose.
  • The opposite. Causality is largely attributed, at least vis-a-vis human relations. ;-)
  • I disagree. Everything has a cause, but not everything has a purpose. I wrote a massive essay on this last year.
  • Anyone with such a world view must necessarily believe in a God or gods. My first thought was that was an interesting evidence that there must be a God. But other posters have pointed out that this is not necessarily so.
  • Reason and purpose are two different things. I do not believe there is a purpose to everything, I do believe there is a reason things happen as in there is a cause but that can still be random. For instance, say a chicken is born with three legs, now this serves no purpose except maybe to stop fights around the dinner table, but there is a reason for it happening, maybe a mutated cell, anyway this is still random as the norm or natural state of a chicken means it has only two legs.
