I didn't see them for a long time either then I moved to a more rural setting in the same parish (county) now I see plenty of them. They are entertaining. Once I was driving down a country road with no traffic and woods on either side. It was like a light show there were so many.
-
Really? How sad for you. We have plenty down here :)
-
Move out away from the city or town a little bit. I don't have a problem finding them!
-
They are in my backyard.
-
Wow, so sorry sm00z :( Has it become more populated where you are in the past years? Maybe growth has relocated them? There are swarms of them here in the woods of NC; I love to set on the porch and watch them fly about and get mixed in with the stars. I wish I had a camera that was good enough to take good low light photos so I could send you some pictures. I'd love to share them with you!
-
I put them all in a jar. Sorry.
-
1. Pesticides 2. Global Warming 3. They have been usurped by their constant foes, the thunder beetles

Here in Annapolis, Maryland we got loads and loads....want me to send a jar full?
-
Ah..lightning bugs. Fragile, beautiful and long-gone? How sad. I don't know..maybe they were victims of lousy air..bug spray..ozone..kids capturing them in glass jars? :(

I think they just stay away the cities mostly, I also see them more then further I get away from Toronto
-
There are plenty here... want me to send you some?
