  • Well the definition to pedophile is pedophile - an adult who is sexually attracted to children So yes..yes that would make someone a pedophile.
  • i'd think yes but i'm glad they don't act on it
  • Pedophile defines the sexual attraction to children, not the acts derived of such.
  • Yes, and a person who acts on those desires is at least a child molester.
  • Yes, because they are sexually attracted to children.
  • Yes, but you will not be considered as such, as far as law enforcement is concerned: 1) "The term pedophilia or paedophilia has a range of definitions as found in common usage, psychology, and law enforcement. - As a medical diagnosis, it is defined as a psychological disorder in which an adult experiences a sexual preference for prepubescent children and may engage in child sexual abuse, also known as "pedophilic behavior". According to the DSM, pedophilia is a form of paraphilia in which a person either has acted on intense sexual urges towards children, or has sexual urges towards and fantasies about children that cause distress or interpersonal difficulty. - In common usage, the term pedophile or paedophile refers to an adult who is sexually attracted to children, whether or not the adult acts upon that attraction by sexually abusing a child. - In law enforcement, the term "pedophile" is generally used to describe those accused or convicted of child sexual abuse under sociolegal definitions of child (including both prepubescent children and adolescents younger than the local age of consent); as can be seen for example in the name of the United Kingdom police agency, the Paedophile Unit. Some researchers have described this usage as improper and suggested it can confound two separate types of offenders, child molesters and rapists, thereby obscuring results of ongoing research." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophile 2) However, if you don't make child abuse yourself, you could also be prosecuted if you are collecting child pornography: "According to FBI agent Ken Lanning, users of child pornography who are pedophiles, are particularly obsessive about collecting, organizing, categorizing, and labeling their child pornography collection according to age, gender, sex act and fantasy. "Collecting" pornography does not mean that they merely view pornography, but that they save it, and "it comes to define, fuel, and validate their most cherished sexual fantasies." An extensive collection indicates a strong sexual preference for children, and if a collector of child pornography is also a pedophile, the owned collection is the single best indicator of what he wants to do. [44] The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children describes researchers Taylor and Quayle's analysis of pedophile pornography collecting: "The obsessive nature of the collecting and the narrative or thematic links for collections, led to the building of social communities on the internet dedicated to extending these collections. Through these 'virtual communities' collectors are able to downgrade the content and abusive nature of the collections, see the children involved as objects rather than people, and their own behaviour as normal: It is an expression of 'love' for children rather than abuse." • Yes, that is the definition of paedophilia, someone who is attracted to children. The only problem is that nowadays with all the hysteria surrounding the subject, 'paedophile' has become synonymous with 'child molester' or even 'child killer'. It is a shame that our fear and paranoia causes us to misuse the language.
  • Yes, although they have not yet committed an act that would lead to their arrest. Yet.
  • Pedophiles are only attracted to children. If they like adults too, they are most likely not a pedophile. If an adult is attracted to children they have to ask themselves what they are attracted to. Is it their innocence as a child, is it physical, is it to overcome with power.. these are important when diagnosing a pedophile. Most pedophiles never marry (althoug some will force the facade to get in the right circles to have access to children)they are usually white, middle class to upper class, educated and do put themselves in occupations that have access to children: Coaching, teaching, school janitorial, Day care workers, Church Head, Camp workers, etc. And they might live at home with their elder parents, attend church and be the nicest person you have ever met. If a person is sexually attracted to children and is alive, you cant say they will never act on their desire, perhaps to date they havent. Never is a strong word and cannot be used whilst one is alive. Off all the crimes in the world, this one disturbs me the most.
  • It's almost as if you asked:Is a person that visualizing the killing of women a serial killer if he never actually hurt anyone? He's a serial killer in the head.Pedofil is pedofil in the head if he doesn't act on his "insticnts".Both are mental illnesses that almost impossible not to act on.
  • that depends on your definition of what constitutes "acting on their desires." does only intercourse meet that criteria? how about the "touchers" who do things that range from something like forced heavy petting to quick gropes and "dirty touches" that leave a child feeling "dirty" and shame. and what about child pornography? even if they are only looking at pictures, and never actually laid a hand on that child, they are still perpetuating the demand for this matieral that causes these children to be abused. so if a person has at anytime, derived sexual feeling from being in the presence of, or veiwing images containing children, then yes i would consider them a pedophile.
  • Most definately! NO adult should have perverted thoughts about children, that's wrong no matter how you look at it. Someone who thinks that way needs help before just thoughts turn into actions. Seek the Lord and asks to take those nasty thoughts away and stay away from kids, period!
  • As a man thinketh, so is he.
  • Yes, to answer your question. But I want to add: Because I am a victim of molestation when I was 8yrs. old by an Uncle, I have researched this subject and talked to him about it as well as other pedos. The hard fact is that there is no treatment for their "illness". They will always want to have sex with children. The desire can be quenched by libido inhibiting drugs, but not eliminated. They will always be a danger to children. Most think that they are only making the children feel good and introducing them to something that they will be introduced to anyway, just doing it earlier. A solution to the problem is not easily found in this society where human rights are so important (and rightly so). We can't tattoo "child preditor" on their foreheads, for example.
  • mentaly not phisically
  • that is exactly the definision of Pedoflile... do in it or not.
  • Yes. "Pedophile" is not a legal conclusion. Rather, it is a psychological or sociological disorder.
  • Yes if you are sexually attracted to children you are a pedophile although I believe it is possible for a pedophile to never act on there urge.
  • TYPICALLY (see exception below): No. Similarly: if a person desires something that they do not own, so badly that they want to steal it - but they do NOT steal it - that person is not a thief and not labeled a thief. Similarly: murderer, arsonist, embezzler, forger, smuggler, or (leaving crime) slanderer, adulterer, fornicator, etc. etc. A person who is tempted to any crime - or any immorality - and who does NOT in ANY way (not even in private) take action in pursuit of that desire - is NOT labelled as a perpetrator of that crime, except BY MISTAKE. *** EXCEPTION: unlike most of these other things, there is also a PSYCHIATRIC definition of the word "pedophile", which refers specifically to someone who has a SEXUAL ATTRACTION to children (without specifying whether or not the person acts on that desire). SO: a psychiatrist would (accurately) label such a person a pedophile...assuming a psychiatrist knew of the attraction.
