"I'm having stomach problems," often a euphemism for diarrhea, which can be caused by all sorts of vague things. If you are female, "I'm having bad cramps" seems to work as well.

The one I used very often is that I have a meeting at the bank. Makes you sound you have to sort out some financial stuff that is too important to put off till later. And a lot of banks shut at 5:00 these days so it`s fooproof. It has never failed me.

Great question Becca. I gotta print this page so I'll have some good excuses in the future! :)

dang someone stole mine about the "female problems" you could also say you have a doctors appointment that you forgot about and barley rememeber just now but that might backfire if your boss is real strict and wants a doctors note or proof

You have a hemorrhoid that just ruptured when you tried to go to the bathroom, and you need to rush over to the nearest clinic. Since usually, no one would ever lie about something that embarrassing, they are much less likely to doubt you. Never actually used that one myself, feel free. I promise, it will work beautifully!

I came to work late today and therefore to keep everything in balance I must leave early!

My kid is sick - it works every time.

My favorite one is ... "I'm out of hours." That probably won't work for you though, unless you're a professional driver.
