  • its an average grade level' an most parents think there children can do better an they expect them to.
  • If I'm not mistaken, a C is an average grade. The thing is, no one wants to be "Average" if there's something a whole lot better. The truth is, it's not that hard to get a grade higher than a C if one actually tries. A C is not a bad grade, but almost anyone can earn a C without trying. Just try and I'm sure you'll do much better.
  • Things are only considered bad because others are considered good. I'll bet you'd agree that an 'A' grade is a good grade. All things below that are less than an 'A', so therefore less good.
  • It's not. Not in my books, anyway. It should be relative to the overall achievement of the student. If the history of a student is littered with failures and conceded passes, a C is a fantastic effort. For an A grade student, such a mark would be indicative of failure to them. I've had many students who have a complex about getting anything less than a B. One was even scolded by her parents because her cousin got an A+, and she an A. Keep gradings in perspective. Also they are subject to the discretions and opinions of the markers, markers are human, and humans make mistakes.
  • Because you must always do your very best...that means putting in 100% 100% of the time. Most people expect that you will do better than a C if you are putting in your best. But, if you ARE putting in your best and you get a C...well you should be proud that you did your best! Success means doing your ABSOLUTE 100% best in everything you do.
  • Because a C is average and no one wants to be just average! You want to stand out and not blend in with the crowd!
  • I remember being at university and taking some really hard courses. I was glad when I got a C. Other times I would have been happy to have gotten a C, I got much worse than that.
  • Maybe because it's average. I'm ok with average, maybe a little above. I never endevour to be #1, only one way to go from there.
  • A "C" is usually considered a little low for most people, but its called average for a reason!
  • It depends on your potential, right. If you're capable of being an A student and you get C's, then yes it is a bad grade.
  • In a world where everyone needs to stand out and thrive in some way, average just doesn't cut it.
  • Its not... my parents are jumping for joy if i get a C... even though i can make A's and B's if i really wanted to... but i really dont want to be one of those students that the teachers are pressering all the time...
  • well, consider that if you only had 70-75% of knowledge about something in real life instead of school, it would be a pretty big disaster. Can you imagine someone fixing your car but only knowing how to do 75% of it? Or making you 75% of a sandwich? What if only 75% of the stoplights worked properly? If you only had to know how to fly an airplane in 75% of the conditions you run into? What if your doctor only knew 75% of the stuff you need to know to do a heart surgery, set a bone, or deliver a baby? A 'C' is a poor grade because if you are trying to learn something, you should learn all of it.
  • Partly depends on the class. You may not have lots of math ability and a C would be ok. If you have great English ability and get a C that would be a bad grade. Most people don't do as well as they really can and to people who know they have more ability than a C would consider a C a bad grade.
  • A "C" represents the failure to stand out from the crowd academically. That is all. It does, however, form a basis for not allowing you into better schools later on, and good schools are often the key to opportunity and capital. (At least they give you a massive boost. Character is another path to success. Becoming the lowest common denominator (fitting in) in school rarely is, however.) For some people, school is primarily an opportunity to fit in, while to others it is a chance to distinguish themselves. Which are you? I got A's and B's in high school, but C's and D's in friendship. I am working to remedy that today.
  • There is too much pressure on students to BE THE BEST!!!! There is nothing wrong with being a regular person. Most people are. The key is to learn enough to know what you need to learn during life.
  • Im in my 4th year doing pharmaceutical chemistry, its tough as a brick. The reason why C is considered bad, is because many immigrants are traveling with high potential and determination, out doing all the lesser hungry natives. So as the bar goes up slowly C becomes a poor mark. I just got a C+ in Advanced biochemistry and feel like crap to be frank, when many got A's and B+. The average is a C+.
  • Because of all those highly competitive people who are trying to secure a spot for a pre-med position who got As. Unfortunately this is how society has decided who gets to be doctors and who gets to be Refuse technicians.
  • If you worked your hardest and got a "C" than it is not a bad grade. I just means that this particular subject is not one of your strengths or interests and you shouldn't feel badly about it. You probably have classes that you get A's and B's in that come more easily or have particular interest to you. "C" is passing, so as long as you gave it your best than don't spend time beating yourself up about it.
  • its not a bad grade. its all about ur standards C is average
  • it's veither good, nor bad
  • It isn't good or bad. It's just a grade. If you could do better, then you should. If you can't do better, it's just fine.
  • THATS A GOOD QUESTION RIGHT WELL I THINK A C' IS LIKE A NUMBER 3 WHICH MEANS 1 AND 2 NOT THE POOREST AND 4 AND 5 NOT THE GREATEST TO ME A C' IS LIKE SAYING *TRY A LITTLE HARDER BECAUSE PARENS SAY OR KNOW THAT THEIR CHILD CAN DO A LITTLE MORE BETTTER THAN GETTING A C' ALMOST UP TO A B WHICH THAT IS WHAT OUR PARENTS WANT FOR US RIGHT TO GET STRAIGHT B' OR STRAIGHT A' EITHER WAY A B OR A A IS A GOOD JOB-WELL DONE "}
