My Westinghouse LCD TV picture has started to "freeze", while the sound continues on. The only way to fix is to turn the TV off and then on again. Any suggestions?

Is your picture tiling or freezing on every channel or just some or what? It could be your cable connection... but: I doubt it. We have the same television in a different size and it does that. While this isn't really helpful at all, at least you know it's not just your tv. There's always some comfort in knowing that hehe.

We have a westinghouse and it started doing that about 6 mo. ago I put up with it because it was in the bedroom and really not used that much but last night the picture froze and will not unfreze. So now we have to but a new tv only a little over a year after buying this one. And I'm steaming mad about it. There is no way i will ever buy another westinghouse TV. So my suggestion is to see if there is still a warrenty and if there isn't use it for target practice.

I have a 32 inch LCD Westinghouse TV that freezes up completely (no sound either). Can only be reset by unplugging the TV. It didn't start doing it till after the warrently had expired. I bought it at an after Thanksgiving sale for 499.00 in 2006. So, I'm out of luck on the return of the TV. I guess I deserve it for trying to buy "cheap" but it's still very annoying. I won't be buying Westinghouse again. I don't know what's wrong with it. I figured it was a drive probelm. I'll just continue to use it till it dies completely then buy a good TV.

Had the same problem with my 32" Westy LCD. Apparently cause by too strong a signal to the tuner. Added an attenuator to the antenna cable and no more lockups. I put on an 8 db attenuator in addition two 3.5 db splitters.

the format/control board on these are failing all over, disposable brand with very few parts ever available - no good news here

When mine does this, I have to unplug from the tv, wait a little while and plug back in. My main problem is sometimes the hd picture gets a little distorted. The best way to describe is that the dark colors turn a little green and look a little pixilated.

We had the same problem with out Westinghouse LCD...We added a small fan to the back of it and now it works FINE..I think it's the cooling fan within the TV that went bad... Hope this works for you as well
