What makes you decide how many points to give to people for questions/answers? Or are you a points hoarder?

You know what? I thought I had a system, but I don't seem to stick too close to it nowadays. I often give maximum points; a notch below that if the Q. or A. lacks that certain something, and medium points for contributions that help, but could be better.

I give the most to every question I answer unless it's a bigoted question

I give my maximum unless it is a factual answer to a question which is not correct but the person has attempted to answer so I give them a lesser amount of points which is only fair to those that give a correct answer. We do not pay for the points so why be stingy with them.

If I answer it, I give max points. If it catches my attention, and I don't have an answer, I give it max points. If it is asked by a newbie who is struggling to get anywhere, I give it max points. I give them freely, hoarding serves no purpose unless you are trying to keep others from overtaking you for the top answer spot and I don't give a .... hoot.

They don't cost anything. If a question is good enough for me to answer, I will give them points, all of them. If an answer to my question was interesting or helpful, you get my points. If an answer is wrong or harmful, I might just give 1or 2 so that it doesn't become top answer.

I give maximum points so far. I haven't mastered how to give partial points. I give points for both questions (questions I think are good and/or questions where the person who did the asking commented on my answer.) and answers that I think are good, or if the comments from the person that answered make the answer good.

Im new so i am still figuring out the point system, but so far i am giving the maximum one point that i have !
