  • Tax records are essentially private.... as long as you do not use a company lik h&r block etc which has a release form which allows them to disclose your information to third party affilitaes. If this is an attempt at revenge at a former land lord let it go. I would ask if he provided you with a numbered reciept each time you gave him the rent and really what business it is of yours , as eventually if they look at his supposed income verses his actual claimed income... if it doesn't match up they will audit, and it will be up to him to pay the piper....
  • I would give him a money order and then you would have a record of what you paid. He sounds really shady. If you give him cash, what proof do you have that you really paid him. Who cares what he does with his taxes, if he is a cheat of Uncle Sam, they will catch him, eventually.
