  • Yes, we've had 2 Agatha Christies, a period drama, one about a murdering doctor that lived in our town, a bit of a musical (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!!), loads of comedy sketches using the promenade, adverts, and it's generally over-run with stars and cameras all the time - but you rarely see anyone! It's so picturesque on the seafront, with the Downs on one side of the prom and the sparkling sea on the other, and the hotels look so regal and Edwardian... no wonder really!
  • They have filmed 2 movies, a music video and chase scenes for both Walker Texas Ranger and Americans Most Wanted, in and around our town. We look like remote anywhere, so they use as a cheap place to get the nothing in the background shots.

Also, I live within easy driving distance of A Warner Brother's studio(The one where they filmed all the soundstages for the matrix) so I get to live in the same city as a lot of movies. Also, I accidentally became an uncredited extra on "The Starter wife" when walking home from work in Brisbane.

  • Edward Scissorhands, and The Punisher (I think it was the Punisher...)
  • Yes, both back in CA where I lived most of my life and now here in upstate New York. In CA we lived in San Luis Obispo county and it was always showing up on TV, especially in car commercials as the backcountry roads were perfect for driving around curves with hills. My Cousin Vinny and My Blue Heaven were 2 big pictures filmed closest to home. Here in New York, it's harder to find them. And not many people will ever remember hearing.
  • No, but one has had its world premiere here. Since this is Lucille Ball's hometown, she came back to premiere "The Long, Long Trailer" in 1954.

  • Yeah. I live in New York and film crews are always here blocking off streets, disrupting pedestrian flow, and generally making pompous nuisances of themselves. I often disobey their "orders" to go one way or another, as I do not wish to be an "extra" in some film, and remind them that this is my town and they they ought to go back to Hollywood. Unfortunately, the mayor and the city administration believes that this brings revenue or publicity to the city. I can assure them that the rest of the world is well aware of the existence of New York City, and I do not know a single person who has gotten any "revenue" from movies being filmed here. New York is a business town, a financial center where people work hard. I don't know anyone who has been benefited by this, though I know of many instances when people have been late to work, rudely treated, or even blocked from their own homes because the city feels blessed by the presence of big-studio Hollywood on our streets.
