  • I respect some old school stuff, but for me it's all about the new school. I think a lot of people who think the new style is all meaningless crap, but they forget that some of the old school rap was just as ridiculous and crap. The new stuff can be just as lyrical, and I think the beats are now much better and diverse.
  • Definitely old school....not too old school like Houdini or anything, but like some old school DJ Clue mix tapes or old school Jay-Z.
  • Old school baby!!!
  • Well, I wasn't really referring to MC Hammer or Vanilla Ice. I was referring to old school NAS, Jay-Z, old school 50 Cents, Capone N Noreaga, or old school like The Firm and the artists featured on a lot of the old school DJ Clue tapes when a lot more stuff was considered underground.
  • OLD SKOOL FTW!!!!!!111111
  • OLD SCHOOL, we is bringin it BACK!
  • Outkast, new, old, future. Holla
  • I'm not a huge hip hop fan, but I was a teenager in the 80's and still love all that old stuff!
  • old skool all the way!
  • Old school but it's whatever is good.
  • new school...why wouldnt you like music that was made for your generation lol...some of it makes me mad because the meaning in hiip hop is slowly fading away form meaning anythign at all...but still
  • Old school all the way! N.W.A., Masters of Ceremony, BDP, Ice-T, MC Hammer, Too Short, Tone Loc, and all the old school artists.
  • New school, but I like the old school too.
  • i like the new skool, but you cant beat the old skool.
  • old school Dr Dre but i like Snoop too
  • I love the old school rap..... I like a lot of new school, but the new school is what made me think it has gotten ridiculous and it almost all seems to suck (all the "this is why i'm hot" garbage).... this is why I stopped listening to rap. I now listen to rock/pop, but still love some old school rap.
  • I like the old school and new school. Some of the new school stuff just drives me insane though...especially when its a bad song that they play over and over and over...such as "Crank That" <~~~~worst f*ing song in history! When people talk about not being able to understand a word of rap/hip-hop...this would be a PERFECT example!
  • i like them both, but i think old school is better cause they didn't have to curse to get there point across and it wasn't as violent.
  • definetely old skool, back then, those rappers still had meaning in there words, evrything they said was with passion, examples 1) Tupac 2) Biggie Smalls 3) Grand Master Flash 4) LL cool J 5) Public enemy (I can name a lot more, but you know where I'm goin
  • I think old school because you get to know more people.
  • I like both...
  • I like old school rap, such as The Sugar Hill Gang, Africa Bam Batta
  • both! mix it up
  • I prefer new school and old. But, in my opinion new school is better.
  • Old school definitely. More poetic in my opinion.
  • old school mixed w/ new school, old school brings some classic moves to the dance that you know then with some new stuff added into it suprises you with new and different moves that impress you. i believe that the new school stuff is a bit harder
  • try immortal tecneek (nod spelled white)or warriorz new school listen to dem
  • immortal tecnique or fee white boys fat joe ya dig
  • Old school; but not all old school artists were great. Let's also not exclude how great some new artists are. There are still some very talented artists, just not as much or as popular as they used to be. I prefer old school for it's lyrical content over new school. I also hate which new school artists are becoming popular. It's sad that our kids will grow up saying "Souljah boy and Jim Jones are the most lyrical rappers" and stupid comments like that. Because whenever we do have a very smart rapper, they never get heard of. Why is someone like Soulja boy more successful than Royce da 5'9", or more known to young kids than a rapper like Nas? - By the way, don't know why I used Royce and Nas for examples or even those other two lyrical jokes lol. Just examples though.
  • I like them both
  • Old school is nice but i think the new school songs are what i like the most :]
  • personally i like the newer stuff
  • 75% old school, 25% new school.
  • ITS ALL ABOUT THE OLD SKOOL! SOME OF THE NEW SKOOL SUCKS
  • I like both but not mainstream new school, that is utter garbage, underground all the way for me
  • old school lyrics new school beats
  • my name is a hint...
  • I don't think one can really compare "old" and "new" music. Also, that really depends on what one would consider "old school". For some, "old school" is stuff from the 70's like Sugar Hill Gang or Grandmaster Flash, but for others "old school" would be stuff from the 90's like Notorious B.I.G., 2pac, NWA, Snoop Dogg, etc. I like a lot of new stuff and a lot of old stuff.
  • Old school, the new school is full of retards trying to screw up hip-hop, like lil wayne.. there's no meaning to new school. Old school like old busta rhymes, redman, a tribe called quest, older atmosphere, stuff like that
  • old school all the way new school killed it..
  • I think that old skool rap is always going to be a lengend. The new style rapper's will always have to feed off of what the old skool rappers spit or put out. All of the new rap samples a lil if not a lot of what a old skool rapper said. They always look and hear and that's how they make their own style or swagga off a old skool rapper.Old skool rap will never be dead along with Hip-hop but it will get diluded with petty rapper spitting wack shit
  • Old school.
  • I'd prefer old school. You didn't have to defend old school hip hop as much. You don't see half naked "bitches" (as we would be refered to by these New School Hip Hop artists) and guns flying all over the place. New school Hip Hop lacks authenticity and class. These artists need to step there game up or else this genre will just fade away...a music has-been
  • What type of Old Skool we talking about here? NWA days? KRS days? Pac's days? Rakims days? It wasnt all that great. I think the NWA era was strong, mainly because of NWA. But after that until Pac's "Strictly for ma *****z" dropped, it wasnt that great. And Im not much interested in pre-NWA either. New school isnt as bad as we make it seem. Got alot of greats, like Nas, Gay Z (woops, Ether), Em, JMT etc. Its not just the Lil Waynes and Boozies and stuff.
  • old school. they actually rap about important things instead of bitches and hoes and how much money and jewlery they have.
  • mainstream: Old School Underground: New School
