  • The person would probably feel tired all the time, due to not getting a "good" sleep. The absolute way to check is to spend the night in a sleep clinic, where they monitor you while you sleep to see if you have these problems. (There is no pain or anything: they just tape little sensors to you to record your heartbeat, etc.) If you're concerned, ask the doctor, since sleep apnea can lead to other problems.
  • Sleep Apnea is blood flow and therefore oxygen being restricted from getting to the brain while you sleep. This is due to the neck constricting blood flow (usually from being to big or fat)You cannot diagnose sleep Apnea yourselve. Basically you are deemed to be at risk from sleep Apnea if you have a neck circumference of around 17\" or more. You may be able to suspect this also from feeling very tired or having dark spots around the eyes. Being overweight and unfit can also contribute. To determine whether you have it you must undergo a sleep test by a doctor. They record oxygen levels in the blood. A normal person has 95% levels. If you have sleep Apnea this can drop to 80%-90%. This is a big drop and means your brain is being starved of oxygen. The answer is to lose weight and get fit as far as I'm aware.
