If your childs father/mother does not see the child in years, would you try and get them to sign over their rights as a parent? Do you try and see why they havnt come and seen them? Do you leave it alone?

No I would not. They would still be the childs parent and as such I would leave it up to the child to decide if he/she wants to stay in touch with such an idiotic person. This is ofc assuming this person is still paying his child support.

I am actually living this right now. My daughter's father hasn't seen or had contact with her for almost four years (she's five). I'm not really concerned with the reason WHY, because I think it's better that he just stays away. If I had the money for an attorney, I would certainly try and have his rights terminated (most states won't allow a parent to voluntarily terminate their parental rights unless there is a stepparent willing to adopt the child).
