I've been told that comments are meant for opinions on answers and NOT for showing appreciation to the answerer. In all honesty, has my habit of thanking everybody for their answers to my questions annoyed you?

Not at all, I think it shows your sweet side. It is polite and doesn't annoy me at all, I am appreciative you have acknowledged my answer. A comment is a comment....

Nope. Disregard what you've been told - everyone's done it (thanking for answers) at some point. I can think of at least four regulars who do it with every single answer they get. My thanks is in the points I give, personally, but the words are appreciated too.

Not at allllllllllllllllll. I think your habit is really nice. It has never ever annoyed me. In fact it feels good when someone thanks you. And about the people who are annoyed by this. Don't give a damn, coz they are annoyed by everything.

I appreciate the courtesy it shows, as well as the acknowledgement that the person took time and effort to respond.

I really hadn't noticed your habit, but it wouldn't annoy me. Comments are for comments related to the particular question associated with them. And showing appreciation for answering your question could easily fall under that category.

Jay I think it's really nice that you take the time and put in the effort to show appreciation to those who answer your questions. It's friendly, begets goodwill and is an example in good manners. It's a credit to you :))

Oh for goodness sakes..now someone is telling you that being polite is out of order? No..someone shows up at your doorstep, spends time responding to your question and then leaves. At the very least he/she is deserved a polite thank you for the time spent..whether or not you agree with the answer. Geez, first it was the language police, now it is the comment police? Give me a break! :(

Don't know where they got their info but it surely isn't official. Where in the 'rules' does it say that? You just be yourself, say your thank yous and don't worry about it. Next what will they say, that it must be completely ON topic and anything spurious will get us a stay in the PB?

Jay, you are one of the nicest people here on AB just because you take the time to thank people for their answers! That is so cool, so you just ignore whatever idiot told you that, because that little habit puts a big smile on my face every time I answer one of your questions!!!

Jay some people just don't have any manners and when someone like you who does have manners comes along it annoys them. Ignore them and don't change who you are. I personally have always appriciated your thank you's. I wish I could be more like you and take the extra time to thank those who take the time to answer my questions.

Push those people to the wayside and don't look back!! If they don't like it they don't have to answer any of your questions....plain and simple. You keep doing what your doing cause we fell in love with you just the way you are.....if you change we might have to hurt you:))

I like it when you respond,it lets me know you read my answer. I always give points and try to keep up with response to questions. Anyway it is a very nice thing to do so just keep on doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I tend to do it a lot myself. I think that is one of the courtesies we should show our fellow Baggers as opposed to ignoring them and have them wondering if we ever read their responses to our questions, let alone cared what they said. I am all for it. Never change!

Not at all! I actually like when people thank me for my answer. I think comments should be used in that way and for opinions on answers.
