  • Well, I guess that depends on the viewpoint. Most people would say, "ît is what it is", which doesn't give much in the way of HOPE. That is why I choose to look to the Bible for a better answer, At 2 Corinthians 1:7 says, "And our hope for you is unwavering, knowing as we do that just as you share in the sufferings, so you will also share in the comfort."(NWT). Here the Bible acknowledges that we suffer, but also says there is hope and comfort we can look for, Revelation 21:4 says "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away". (KJV) This scripture shows that God is going to resolve all of causes of human sufferings. There other scriptures that show God has a plan for the end of all suffering, here at Isaiah 33:24 it says "And no resident will say “I am sick”; the people that lives in it has its guilt pardoned". (Byington) and at Psalm 72:12-14 "For he will deliver the needy when he crieth, And the poor, that hath no helper.13 He will have pity on the poor and needy, And the souls of the needy he will save.14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence; And precious will their blood be in his sight. (ASV) The (NWT) puts it this way "For he will rescue the poor who cry for help, Also the lowly one and whoever has no helper.13 He will have pity on the lowly and the poor, And the lives of the poor he will save.14 From oppression and from violence he will rescue them, And their blood will be precious in his eyes". and one more at Psalm 145:16 "You open your hand and give your favor to satisfy every living thing". (Byington) Just imagine what life would be like with all the problems that cause Human suffering is gone. I am sorry Linda Joy if I have offended you in some way, I was just trying to give some comfort using the Bible. As a student of the Bible I don't limit myself to only one translation. I will no longer respond to any of your questions.
  • Yes, suffering is part of the human condition.. I've never known or heard of someone who has not suffered in some way.
  • Suffering is not necessary although everyone experiences it at some point in their life. It’s usually around the wrong people that an individual can suffer mentally. I see suffering as a learning curve so as not to go through the suffering again by not making the same mistake. I am selective with people who are respectful towards individuality and head space. Control freaks are the opposite who can be stressful to be around with as they are psychological bullies. They have expectations of others and there is no need to be like that. Just be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you differently. I may appear as withdrawn when I’m around people in general. I have suffered enough in life both physically and mentally. I used to get physically bullied when I was a child but those days are gone and feeling stressed out and depressed by the wrong people. Nobody should go through that. The only way to avoid suffering is to withdraw from everyone, start having a fresh life and gain personal development then be selective of people who are capable of treating others right and gain a healthy relationship with others. Mental health comes first.

I think suffering is essential to the development of empathy, sympathy and strength. And I think people in general are not good or bad. Its how you respond to them that makes the difference. Or to not respond at all which is good in some cases and less beneficial in others. I think the important thing here is not blaming others for how you feel. That's a choice you make in how you respond to them. Eleanor Roosevelt said No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. I didn't use quotes because I'm not sure its accurate, but you get the gist. I used to let my ex call me stupid until I had numbers that proved otherwise. Now I don't take anyone else's evaluation of me as being accurate over my own. I'm just as valuable as every other human Jesus died for! And that's the truth as I see it! You are, too sweetie! Whether you believe it or not.

I choose not to believe in your imaginary Jesus for the reason being I am not brainwashed into delusions. Some people but not everyone do not realise the emotional impact they have on others whether it’s positive or negative. Suffering is caused by being around the wrong people. There are those who will hurt others whether it’s physical or psychological damage. It’s usually people who are weak and vulnerable who are the victims. They did not choose to be victims. It’s how they are wronged by others which many shallow minded people fail to see. Suffering is not essential to have empathy. Empathy can come naturally in a person because they are open to having an emotional connection with others.
