  • When you're over 80, all screening is stopped, and even diagnosed cancer is often left untreated because "you'll die of something else anyway." Gotta love American health care.

      Or you may not be strong enough to survive the treatment. In any case its something to look forward to! Not having to have those exams anymore.
  • My doctor said something about how they don't treat certain things once you are over 60 years old, even if you ask. I guess the insurance companies figure that you are no longer worth keeping alive beyond a certain age.

      I'm a strong supporter of statistics. Especially in this case. I watched my mother die of cancer and I don't want to go through that. I won't put my son through it. And I think VOLUNTARY euthanasia should be a legal option. It would save a lot of money and misery. But it should also be an option for those not ready to go to fight it, regardless of age, but I understand the insurance companies having to go with the statistics. People are living longer these days, though so guidelines may change.
