    I'm thinking the answer is yes, but I've never gotten an infection from fire ant bites.

      I was talking to a friend who's in Florida for another week before he comes home. He said his leg was all red and stung where where the bites were. Thanks

      I have had my share of fire ant bites and was even chased out of my clothes one time right on the highway where I was working. I never got and infection but I sure burned like Hell for awhile!
