Dr. Doom would win. Although both have advanced high tech armor along with cutting edge weaponry, Dr. Doom would have the advantage because he is a villain. The taking of life would not hinder his attacks. Iron Man on the other hand is a hero and a hero by definition will not take another life no matter how provoked. They would probably fight to a draw, Dr. Doom would put an innocent bystander in danger, Iron Man would turn to save them and be shot in the back with a power beam by Dr. Doom.

This question is akin to asking who between Batman or Superman would win. The answer of course, not absolute and almost entirely circumstantial. For instance, it is reasonable to assume that Iron Man's armor is much greater than Dr. Doom's in terms of power and scope. However, this does not take into account that if Dr. Doom had anticipated to fight Iron Man, he certainly could utilize his intellect (which many argue is the greatest in the Marvel Universe) to construct armor superior to Stark's. He also could use sorcery, or just sabotage Tony's suit, the latter of course being unlikely as Doom usually adheres to a strict code of ethics (which is why it is unlikely he would most likely not shoot Stark in the back). As with Batman, Doom's greatest weapon is his intellect. Therefore, it depends on the circumstances of the conflict. Does Stark surprise Doom? Does Doom know that such a fight will occur?

Although Dr. Doom's armor looks like a man inside a tin can. It is on par with Iron Man's. Both a very well educated and considered the smartest on the world. Both have shown themselves to be able to defeat foes stronger than themselves. As Dr. Doom is a very egomanical person his motivation to win would be unquestionable. Also Dr. Doom has shown himself to be a master in the art of mystics in which Iron Man has no defense against. As I read from an article, the owner of the website put a very good point in Iron Man vs Dr. Doom. "THe owner explained how Dr.Doom would be able to defeat Iron Man but Iron Man would come back and hurt Dr. Doom and defeat him." Despite how long I have wrotten, I would conclude that the fight would end with Iron Man winning, but as they say that even if Doctor Doom SEEMS to lose, he has won.
