  • No good dentist will do this, the mouth needs to heal and settle so the cast can be taken and the dentures fit properly.
  • You can get dentures in 2 ways. 1)your teeth get extracted, wait a couple months for the bone to shrink - then start taking impressions to get the denture made and have a very nice fit. The downfall is you're going all that time with no teeth. 2)you CAN have what is known as immediate dentures. You get impressions taken and the dentures are started on, then your teeth are extracted and the dentures are placed right then & there. The downfall is that they will be a loose fit but in a couple months after the boone shrinks back, you get your dentures relined. I don't know where you're from but at the dental office where I work at in Canada, it's about 200 bucks for the reline. It will give you a beautiful fit. I have had MANY many patients do it this way and they are more than happy with the results. ** I will NOT say that a good dentist won't do this. The mouth will be healed by the time the reline is done.
  • yes, there are many places that offer this service. Most are listed in the phone book and I would imagine there is also a referral service.
  • Cart, it seems my cooment isn't going through.... I'll post here. I am a dental professional - I am simply answering the question to the best of my knowledge, which is also to reassure the patient. I am sorry if you have had bad experiences at the dental office. We all know it isn't a fun place to be - please don't be graphic in any way to scare anybody. As far as anesthetic - extractions couldn't be done with it -- and that's also for patient comfort. You aren't telling me that you'd like required dental work, especially extractions to be done without it would you? The impressions are taken before the extractions are done - it is then sent to the lab and the teeth on the stone model are removed, and they start to fabricate the denture. When the day comes that the extractions are done, the dentures are ready to insert - you still remove them at night mind you, and yes the gums may still be sensitive at first, but gums heal fast. After a couple months time when the gums and the bonoe shrinks down, that's when a reline is done to provide a proper, tight fit. If not, the dentures will be very loose. Basically the choice is to do it this way or else to wait a couple months with no teeth before having the dentures made. The patients who I have seen get the immediate dentures are more than happy with the results. The extractions can be done all at once, or in 2 appointments, depending on how many teeth need to come out, as well as the health of the teeth. I've seen a mouthful of teeth whose roots were above the gumline and only a small amount were still in bone. Those are easy to remove all at once. Or, if there are many teeth, the posterior teeth can come out one day, and the anteriors on another day that the dentures are inserted. Mostly, immediate dentures are done on the upper teeth. We try to discourage a full denture on the lowers as the fit isn't as good no matter what kind you go for. We like to keep the anines there for a partial denture to clasp onto, which will provide a better fit. I hope this helps.
  • My husband had it done it two stages, first the top-then the bottom. The take impressions, then make the dentures. Then you go in and have your teeth removed and the put the dentures in right away. The dentist my husband saw said this prevents alot of swelling of the gums.
  • Yes you can have dentures and extractions done in the same day. I did a lot of research before getting mine done. I found a place called Affordable Dentures. I read review after review on these places and found nothing but bad things. By the way am 32 years od and have a fear of dentists like no other. They are my only fear. I talke wih my wife and she is a buisness majior and told me that the only reviews you will find online about places of these natures are people who have complaints which usually amount a small percentage of clients. I live in Lynchbug VA and called the nearest Affordable Dentures which is 17 miles away. There revewwas horrible but I called anyway. This place was hatefull. They could not answer any questions I asked and was vey hatefully on the phone. Even made me feel stupid for calling. I called another office which was in South Hill,VA 104 miles away from my house. They answered every question I could think of. They were extremly nice and made me feel calm about the procedure. I went2 days ago on Thursday morning.I met with the nurses which were wonderful. They took my x-ray first complete mouth. Then the dentists came in and talked with me and made me feel relaxed before talking about the plan of what was to happen. I had to have all 28 teeth plusmy 4 wisdom teeth removed. I agreed because I wanted this done all at once so I would never have worry about this again. They came in and fitted me upper and lower with a mold then told me to come back to he office at 2pm. I came back at 2pm they took me back and started with the novacain. The pocedure was over before I even new it. All I ever felt was a little pressure here and there. Stiched me up then placed my immediated dentures in. Everything as awsome. I have yet to have any real pain. Just a litl sore.
  • Over twenty years ago I had 23 teeth removed and dentures put in on the same day. I was put into a general day clinic and put under general anaethesia
