  • It's possible. Children usually see spirits better and long before adults do, because they do not have the automatic resistance to anything "supernatural" as most adults do. In my house which has some spirits, I am not always able to see them, but I know they are there because the room will get colder (usually around 45 degrees) in whatever area they are. Also, you can pick up a lot more in your peripheral vision. As for a solution short of moving, this depends greatly on your beliefs. I put a cross above the door to my room and have had no problems since (because the spirits that were bothering me were evil). It may also help to have a spiritual leader or shaman come over and bless the house.Tell your son if he does see it, he needs to confront it, and ask it why it is in his house (this can solve a lot of problems)
  • No. It's his imagination and the fact that it's dark and he can't see clearly. If you let this continue it will snowball so you have to take practical steps before he starts really worrying. Explain that there are no ghosts and be sure to tell him why so that he understands. Leave a light on for him at night either outside the room or get him a night light. Ask him to show you the shadows and when he does, gently offer a practical explanation - don't let this get any worse than it already is.
  • Nothing like that.Just Be with him for some nights.try to drive waay his misconceptions. You just be with him and check out your self whats the matter. He just needs some emotional support and parents can do that very well.
  • I understand where you're coming from because my 11 year old has been seeing figures and shadows about a year now and so has my 17 year old and I have been able to see shadows and figures since I was about 5 and so has a male cousin of mine we saw a compete figure in front of us on 2 seperate occasions together when we were about 5-6 but what has helped my son is that I teel him to ignore them. Good luck.
  • I remember when I was younger and saw a shadow going across my wall. My Dad and Mom always taught me to not be fearful, and to call out the name Jesus when in that kind of situation or when I'm afraid. When I called on the name "Jesus", it always went away and that only happened to me a couple of times. I eventually would get up from my bed, turn on the light, and get down on my knees and pray and I felt much better. I do think we should be taught not to entertain fear. Hope you'll try this method with your son.
  • Shadow people or figures I believe are lost spirits, they really do not mean any harm as I have yet to hear where they have done anything harmful to anyone. I do not think they can help being seen when conditions are right.
  • I don't know if you let him watch scary movies or if he hears anyone argue? But this can also contribute to that..One thing I highly recommend is calling up a prayer line to have them pray for your home and family! The 700 club or bbn.org to name two. Just in case they are not friendly ghost. If I was you always trust your kids, especially if they are serious. They need to know that you care and they can come to you for anything.
  • Holy ****, that's spooky
  • either they are ghost or just somethign in the hallway that might be casting a shadow and he see's them moving into your bedroom he possibly is because kids and animals see ghost befor more older people can what i would do is see if anythign unusual happens in your room when he says he see them go into your room
  • I also have seen dark figures and since that time i have deoted a reat amount of energy and time into the study of the paranormal and demonology. You need to probe him more about their activities and what enviromental factors are present such as cold spots, foul smells feelings of dred. But i would let him explain these feelings to you do not mention specific symptoms of a demonic haunting. I would also ask if you have heard loud thumping in the walls or scratching sounds, disembdied voices ? if so please get the house blessed immeadiatley.
  • There is a technical terms for these two figures. It's called OAI, or Over Active Imagination
  • Me and my children have seen plenty of these. I think most are energy left from life gone by myself
  • A couple or three possible explanations for this. Likely, his eyes have difficulty adjusting to the dark a possible stigmatism [sp?] Mine do this and I sometimes swear I see stuff but I verify that it's my eyes. Children often have waking dreams that seem real. It seems very common in males up to 15+. Is he seeing ghosts? I suppose one can't be sure. I'm no religious zealot or anything but one thing that I have seen work for these situations (many times) is by reading allowed, with him there, the 64th Pslam (a prayer of protection) and placing the Bible open to that passage near the head of his bed and let him know why. Whether it's A, B, or C, this may calm his imagination, provide needed comfort, or protection if you prefer. I've seen this calm several children so it could be worth a shot for the child.
  • He is probably experiencing a waking dream. This is a known psychological phenomenon where your body is still asleep, but your mind has partially awakened. Usually a person will experience paralysis (because your body is mostly paralyzed while you sleep so that you don't act out your dreams), and very often it is accompanied by the feeling of an evil presence. They are quite terrifying. I've had a few myself. It is also possible that he may just have an active imagination. Or possibly stalkers. Lock your windows.
  • I am 40 and ever since my 20's I see the figures sometimes once every few years. One time they were so clear I watched one ducking around trying to look at me,it would lean over and move its head side to side.I sat up in my bed rubbing my eyes to see if I was really looking at someone and my heart was beating so hard I had complete terror in my body and such an adrenaline rush,I screamed at it, jumped up and turned on my light and nothing was there, it felt so real though. My medical book called it night terrors.
  • It can be one of two things: angels, or demons. Most likely I would say demons, just going off my gut instinct. What you need is and exorcism of your house. (Let the argument begin!!!!)
  • YES, WATCH GHOST HUNTERS OR WHATEVER THERES AN HOUR LONG SHOW FOLLOWED BY DEAD CHILDREN OR THE LIKES.THEY ARE REAL WHY NOT SURE. THE MOST HOUNTED PLACE IS GETTYSBURG SOMETHING LIKE 55.000 DIED IN 4 HOURS. DURING THE CIVIL WAR.THE SHADOWS WONT HURT YOU.CONTACT A SERVICE THAT DOES THIS FOR A LIVING AND KEEP E-MAILING UNTIL THEY RESPOND.THEY ARE BUSY.I WONT GET INTO WHAT IVE SEEN OR HEARD. BUT YES THEY ARE REAL.
  • No of course not but unless you put him straight and explain why ghosts do not exist (or ever have existed), he will continue to believe otherwise and his imagination will run wild - and it will be a snowball effect. Put an end to this - today.
  • How old is your son? Can you see them? Could it be caused by headlights casting shadows from a tree or something? Have you seen them? Are there any other happenings going on except what he says he sees? If there is nothing else going on, I would suggest making a spray to empower your son over his fears. Get a spray bottle and fill it with water, then add 3-4 drops of essential oil (we used tangerine, but some people use lavender. Get whatever he likes). Every night before bed, have him spray his room (we did each corner three times) and say a little protection prayer like, "With this spray I make the shadow people go away," or whatever works for you. If you need any other information or help, let me know. I'm a paranormal investigator with five years experience in dealing with both real and not real hauntings.
  • Possibly ghosts, possibly shadows, possibly imagination. Doesn't really matter what they are - what matters is that your son is frightened. Maybe you just need to sit with him a few times, ask him to tell you if he sees them. If he says yes, ask him more questions, and check it out. If they're shadows - you should be able to see them too. (If they're ghosts - you might too!) Help him to not be afraid of seeing them, whatever they are. Maybe you just need to leave a nightlight on in the area. It may not eliminate the source of the shadows - but it might make him *think* it will, which may comfort him. Can you move the furniture in his room around so that his view is no longer of the doorway/hallway? If he can't see the place where the ghosts were - maybe he will stop worrying about seeing them. Try not to make a big deal out of them, but definitely address the issue he's having. Being afraid is no fun - and it's important that you take his feelings, and his story, seriously. Work with him on coming to a solution that works for everyone, and that allows him to remain sleeping in his own room.
  • showing and displaying fear is the worst thing you can do. either welcome them to your home. or just ignore them.
  • Yes he can see them and maby there are trying to tell you something and maby they are just his imagination our you should get a Ghost Hunter to came over cause it would just be a waste of time for us Shinigami to get rid of it.
  • any silly talk about ghosts is gonna freak him the hell out. Children have very active imaginations in the dark. Get him a night light.
  • Sounds like your son has experienced seeing a shadow person. Many people believe shadow people are real, but here is little evidence of what they actually are. You an read more about shadow people at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/362588/hauntings_what_are_shadow_people.html. Hope it answers some questions for you.
  • No, it's most likely products of an active boyhood imagination he is seeing. I was exactly the same way when I was little, and in hindsight, I have realized that just about everything I saw was my eyes playing tricks on me, or something with a perfectly logical explanation.
  • Yes, call 1-800-GHOST-BUSTERS immediately
  • A lot of the time we can become paranoid in the dark, but there are a few questions you need to ask youself. What scares my son in everyday life? Does he usually come up with stories like this?
  • Assuming it's not readily explainable or a bid for attention, it could be shadow people, it could be a spirit, it could be a demonic presence. I would look for a team of experienced paranormal investigators to have a look at it. They would also be able to direct you to an exorcist should it become necessary. If you are religious a blessing on the house should help but exorcism is a more permanent solution.
  • I grew up in a haunted house in the Los Angeles area of California. I am a grown man 0f 51 years of age now. Seeing is believing. I am sure you have your share of answers to wade through, most of them probably saying it's just a bid for attention. It may be just that. But then again?? My suggestion to you is to contact an organization here in the U.S. called T.A.P.S. short for The Atlantic Paranormal Society. They make problems involving children a number one priority. They are located in Warwick Rhode Island. They have traveled all over the country helping people in your situation. They even have an overseas unit called Ghost Hunters International. They will help you or find someone nesr you who can. GOOD LUCK!
  • Children have the ability to see spirits. If they are dark and shadowy, then they are evil and there to do harm.If they appear like white lights, they are good and are there to help you.
  • i have that exact same problem. i am 12 and at night sometimes i will see a shadowy figure standing in the doorway just staring at me. sometimes a child has the mind to see a spirit. but as they mature they'll lose the ability. but the more rational reason is that when a person needs rest the shadow from a wall or railing maybe even an item by the door, will seem life-like.
  • yes it could be that your son is seeing ghost it is mostly kids that see paranormal activity before adults and mostly in there rooms
